Blackpool & Fleetwood Tramway: The Metro Coastlines trams of the early 2000s

As Blackpool Transport’s flagship Metro Coastlines network became more and more successful, attention was turned to painting some of the tram fleet in a similar livery in order to brighten it up.
The following trams were treated:
(611) experimental Trampower roadliner tram: Line 14 Brunswick green and yellow.
636: Line 14 Brunswick green and yellow
642: Allover yellow
671-681: Line 2 (26) Sherwood green and yellow
672-682: Line 1 Orange and yellow
673-683: Line 11 Turquoise and yellow
674-684: Line 4 Cadbury purple and yellow
675-685: Line 5 Red and yellow
710: Line 7 Purple and yellow
711: Line 14 Brunswick green and yellow
713: Line 7 Purple and yellow
715: Line 16 Sky blue and yellow
718: Line 3 Blue and yellow
724: Line 5 Red and yellow

The scheme grew in popularity with a childrens’ colourful tick sheet showing each tram with a competition to see who could travel on or spot the most different trams.

Having been initiated by Managing Director, Tony Depledge,OBE and perpetuated by his replacement, Steve Burd, the Metro Coastlines scheme was unceremoniously dropped by Steve Burd’s replacement, Trevor Roberts, with no explanation and was replaced with a dull black livery with vinyl swooshes and no colour variants by route.
