These autonomous vehicles are being trialled to replace the driving of baggage tractors that typically require the highest number of drivers in the airside. See if you can spot them in action from the transit areas before you board the airplane from Singapore!
The Auto-Dolly is an autonomous individual baggage trailer, while the Auto-DollyTug is a tug variant of the machine, designed to tow three additional trailers so they can transport larger quantities of air cargo. These machines are programmed to autonomously pick up Unit Load Devices (ULD) filled with your luggage from airport terminals and transport them onto pallet loaders with the help of autonomous mechanical arms before the containers are moved into the aircraft.
We’re the first airport in the world to test the ability of such driverless systems to autonomously load and unload ULDs at the aircraft stand.
These high-tech wonders can also navigate the bustling airside roadways safely: they’ll steer away from obstacles and stop for workers on the ground, ensuring everyone’s safety while keeping the airport running like clockwork. 🚛
