  1. I absolutely love that the fight against the Earthmover's core is EXACTLY what I thought Flesh Panopticon was going to be, a shame it's very easy, but still a very very fun boss, when I got to it the first time I ended up killing it too quickly and didn't experience too much of it, but to a new player it is a very challenging and balanced fight

  2. The Mannequins must be how V1 feels to other enemies.
Wiry little bugger that move around at supersonic speeds and then fire projectiles at weird angles.

That being said, overall I'm gonna have to go and call skill issue. The chapter boss is literally just making sure you remember how the game's mechanics work by chaining them together in more demanding but still readable ways. It's not doing anything particularly new once you get past the initial bluster of the Shadow of the Colossus/Armored Core spiel of climbing around in the boss, and like everyone pointed out there's a LACK of newly-added weaponry so your options aren't cluttering the judgement of what to do with the boss.

  3. If it makes you feel better, I never actually got the pattern for the final boss. I honestly think doing it the "intended" way is way, way harder.
I just gave up on the lasers entirely and focused completely on just laying into it as hard as possible and killing it before the shields went up at all.
Stick a saw magnet to it, unload every cooldown, and then just shotgun punch and parry the orbs to heal. If you abandon dodging the lasers and kill it fast enough, parrying the orbs will outpace the laser damage enough for it to die before you do.

  4. i love 7-4. I was in a pretty similar boat to you with the lasers til i figured out you can dodge the one thats between the stand still and jump ones by standing on the edge of the arena. By the time i was p-ranking the level i just treated it like an easier flesh prison cause you can kill it before it even goes into the idol phase

  5. When I fought the 7-4 boss, I thought obvious the intended way was to just kept speeding alongside the lasers instead of trying to jump through them, since Ultrakill has no jump nuance but plenty of ways to mantain speed.

  7. you gotta be either the worst best player or the best worst player i've ever seen, you've accomplished everything the game has thrown at you and yet also struggle more on new content than anyone i've seen. you'll walk into a room that tilted me to hell and back and waltz through it, and fight a boss without reasling you can just move with the lasers. noone else could ever do it like you. mad respect

  8. I dont comment on videos like at all and i dont even watch your channel but i just wanted to say im sorry about the whole earthmover comment thing you didnt deserve all that hate, dont let those comments let you down, if those people get frustrated at your gameplay they shouldn't be watching the video at all

  9. watching you play feels like watching those mobile game ads where they fail on purpose and miss the obvious solution over and over again to make you want to download the game and do it yourself.

  10. The way I fought the boss also involved moving counterclockwise when necessary. If I pathed as close to the core as I could, I outsped the lasers with a slide or slide hop.

But mostly I just played it as a pure DPS game, starting out with a railcoin, saw trap, cannonball etc. I was so focused on DPS that I really did not focus on movement and the lasers, and definitely ate more than half of the sweeps, which turned it into a race to see who reached 0 HP first. I think maybe I felt less frustrated by it, but I definitely needed more restarts on that boss fight than you did.

What I actually found more frustrating was the rest of the level. I think mostly because my parkour movement is rusty from lack of use, and those damn Guttertanks always feel so frustrating to me, especially that one on the narrow walkway. I think it's because I'm so complacent about hanging out in enemies' faces and dumping shotgun pellets into them, either just briefly tanking the damage (like from maurice) or relying on high velocity to protect me (like from mindflayers' melee). But the guttertanks just do not let me be so careless. They make me actually work to be close, and keep me on my toes at a distance. I really like the Guttermen and Guttertanks design though. Both of them feel like serious presences on the battlefield, just as hard or harder to ignore than Mindflayers or Virtues. I dread meeting them in Cybergrind πŸ™‚

And that boss level, dear god what an amazing feeling. I remember finding those massive silhouettes so awe inspiring in 7-2 (god the skyscapes in this layer are the BEST), and when I saw its glowing eyes in the sky of 7-3 I had another Corpse of Minos moment of "I know what the boss is gonna be :O" The sheer adrenaline and hype of having that colossus up close, hearing and seeing those titanic energy lances, it's just irreplicable. I can play that level as many times as I want, I'll never get that same feeling again.

  11. I feel like 7-4's boss is a love it or hate it situation. Once you get it figured out, you love it, until then it sucks. Also tip: go with the grain of the lasers, that way you have more time before having to jump.

  12. My favourite detail in this layer is how it's implied that V1 was designed to counter the Earthmovers.

"new designs were phased in and out at a feverish pace, each designed specifically to counter the last"
    – Guttertank Terminal Data

"War had become entirely dependent on them, large scale conflict was no longer feasible."
    – Earthmover Terminal Data

"The V model was built for war"
"However, during the prototyping phase, the New Peace was established and war became irrelevant."
    "V1's planned production was cancelled"
    – V2 Terminal Data

TL;DR Earthmovers were the last machines used in the Final War, and V1 was an unfinished prototype meant to be used in the war. Since each machine was designed to counter the last, V1 was meant to counter the Earthmovers.

  13. Violence (and watching people play Ultrakill while I was discovering it last year since my other 2 brothers bought it up back in 2022.) has taught me something: Seeing the progress or other people playing an update is one thing. But at precisely the moment you start playing the game yourself, it’s completely different.

I really enjoyed this update, and it’s not done yet.

Oh, one more thing. I also discovered that when I scream or raise my voice (mainly in my initial reaction to the Mannequins) my headset mic very much dislikes that.

  14. Phfew, that first run through of the 7-4 Core was brutal for you, I suppose it's fixed now that you've apparently done the P-ranks for the levels?

I wonder what tactics were going through your mind at the idols part, did you think you couldn't outrun the lasers to go in the same direction at them (edit, you did!)? Did you forget you could nullify or control your momentum with dashes and slams to avoid the "guaranteed" damage from the idol knockback?

The boss definetly has issues, but I can't put my finger on it despite p-ranking it as well, clearly it's extra tough for some people, and cake for others, and i'm not sure what is causing such a divide, i'd like to figure it out so that we can find proper changes to make rather than give more health or make the lazers slower or something like that

I know you said you wouldn't care about comments like mine, but I don't think that's true, best way to prove me wrong is to not reply, but you're welcome to regardless, especially if you wanna share your thoughts about the boss' issues if you have some things figured while I don't
