US deploys 101st Airborne unit for first time in 80 years for 'nuclear training drills'

In response to escalating tensions between Russia and the US-led NATO military alliance, America’s 101st Airborne Division has been sent to Europe for the first time in 80 years.
Due to escalating tensions with Russia over Ukraine, the US Pentagon has sent the elite 101st Airborne Division to Europe for the first time since World War II as part of military preparedness exercises with NATO partners. The Kremlin and Kyiv have traded accusations regarding the use of illegal nuclear and biological weapons; Russia has even alleged that Ukraine intends to detonate a “dirty bomb” in conjunction with the “nuclear training drills” in Romania.
American F22 fighter jets flying in formation with Italian Eurofighters, Polish F16, and American over Polish airspace were captured on camera by NATO.
The display of power coincides with two weeks of NATO nuclear training exercises involving the 101st Airborne division, the US military unit that is closest to the border with Ukraine.
For the first time since World War Two, the Kentucky-based Division’s headquarters are now located in Europe.
According to CBS Evening News’s Colonel Edwin Thetis: “With our air assault capabilities, we provide a special ability. Aside from that, it means a lot to us to be back in Europe after an absence of eight years.”
