  1. What's this? A Packers fan finally feels more resentment towards the Vikings than the Bears? Has Tom lost his mind? Seriously, though, as a Vikings fan, I'm cautiously optimistic about the game Monday. The Vikings D showed up where the Eagles' didn't. Regardless, I think that the game has the potential to establish the Vikings as a genuine force to be reckoned with.

  2. When it comes to picking games against the spread, the lines are pretty sharp. They are sort of trying to get public money split 50/50 on either side of the line, but really the general public doesn't spend as much as professional betters do. So, the odds makers use their statisticians who have been dedicated to football betting for decades; and they set early lines against a select audience. Based on that, they have a pretty good idea how the market is going to react to their set line and they have an opportunity to adjust it. Only then does the general public ever see a line set. So that's the story on why it's essentially impossible to win long term betting on the spread. That said, I do think there is occasional opportunity to find and edge, based on underlying fundamentals that are ignored by the pros. Bit those are going to be edge cases in the whole process and not things you can reliably win on every week in multiple games.

  3. The Steelers needed 5, count them 5, turnovers and 7 sacks just to look like they were in the same league as the Bengals and they still should have lost that game. I'm taking the Patriots all day long on this one!
