  1. ADD-ON:

The former Emperor becomes the Admiral's pet (a regular one would not have done). Constantly by his side during the space travels, witnessing every business deal & alliance formation the humans make. He realised too late that he had messed with the dark side of humanity. What he had seen here was the benefits of a peaceful alliance. During 1 of his respite hours the Admiral is relaxing in his private chamber holding the ex-emperor in his embrace, lulling him, "Don't cry my friend, there's a good boy."
Xoltar wept, "What else can I do? I expected you to make slaves of us when you defeated me, you didn't. It doesn't make sense, since you didn't execute me I gave myself to you as your personal slave as atonement. You kept me but did not have me whipped or beaten by your underlings or do it yourself. Why?"

The Admiral sighed, "I wanted to show you what you would have gained through peaceful contact." he strokes Xoltar's head & under his chin, for some weird reason, he likes it. The humans are indeed capable of mercy, instead of destroying his world, they allowed it to rebuild, the new Emperor (Xoltar's younger brother) is proving to be better than he was. The Admiral gets up from the couch & makes his way to the automatic food dispenser, Xoltar following him, no longer wearing his royal robes but simple saurian garments (plus a collar for amusement). The Admiral types up a program for 2 bowls of Beef Stew, some steamed vegetables & 1 small bowl of rice. He gives the largest stew bowl to Xoltar, who while eating the contents is wondering how by all the gods in the universe can these humans eat meat, vegetables & grains? Are they the direct spawn of their gods? He shudders at this thought & keeps eating, well, they do have a good menu for meat. Perhaps some of these Earth dishes would become a big hit on Alkor. Yes, he recalls the Roasted Venison he'd eaten at an Earth Festival, now THAT was worthy of a Royal table. He was shocked to learn that it was once eaten by Terran Royalty, although Earth was not ruled by a single monarch, some of it's countries' families claim direct descent from ancient royal lineages. "Some regions are still ruled by monarchs," the Admiral explains, "Their family members take up careers in Politics or the Military." Xoltar has taken up studying Terran history, he is amazed by 1 notable figure, Genghis Khan. A brutal warlord of his time, but was he a complete tyrant? Anyhow, his biggest legacy walks the streets of every Terran city & nowadays the colony planets, a bloodline legacy. He grins at this thought, "He was no slouch, even in his dotage." Meanwhile on Planet Alkor, his brother the new Alkorian Emperor is advocating on the foolishness of declaring immediate war on newly discovered lifeforms, "Remember Earth!" He would cry out at the finale of every speech concerning such actions.

  2. I'd imagine the Emperor would not be given the death sentence on the grounds of the punishment being too merciful even for him. His cousin would be executed though, by the very humans he intended to enslave. He would be killed by being stabbed through the neck by his own battle spear. The Emperor would serve time in a human run prison, on the odd occasion he would be handed over to Admiral Stark for the purpose of showing him how the humans ran their empire, how they would do it without enslaving other lifeforms, to show it is possible.
