  1. I have zero problem with swag or props that content creators receive and share in their excitement.

I might have a larger issue if board game content creators received gameplay items that are exclusive and not available to others. That would feel a bit like “look at my elite status” rather than “share in my excitement” over something that doesn’t directly impact the board gaming experience.

Those are just my thoughts in regards to that particular topic.

  2. My Question is how do you balance your budget between getting games, and providing for your family? Just thought it would be nice to see how you deal with it, for those that don't have a big budget but still want to buy a expensive game. Ive noticed many in Comments, Specifically under Isofarian Guard, and Hoplomachus, pull the trigger because of FOMO, despite it possibly hurting their budget .

  3. 11:35 The difference is that anyone in the audience, if they worked hard enough, and managed their money correctly, could obtain the "thing", which in your example is the Lamborghini. For 1 off exclusive things, there is 0% chance that anyone watching could every obtain it. So, I get it's a flex, and if the goal is to flex then cool. However, if it's not, then it just comes off as a flex.

  4. 100% on being a good sport at game night. As for snacks, it tends to be handheld foods in my circles like chips and dip, cookies, candy, fruit, pastries. Although, this summer a new friend got me into adding carrots and cucumbers to the mix for dipping in hummus. The snacks sit on a separate table from the games, and there are bowls/plates for gathering snacks to bring to the game table.

Also, "how good the art is vs how bad the artist was" does seem like an apt summary how these sorts of issues are often decided.

  5. There is one point about the free stuff that did not get mentioned but is very helpful: disclosure. By mentioning the items received, you allow yourself to be criticized and judged on your reviews. This comes with a lot of negatives as people might say you are just shilling for a company BUT it also means you are open and honest with your content, allowing yourself to be seen as fair as possible. I like the mentioning of items for that main reason alone. The excitement is a bonus. The jealousy always exists.

  6. The audio and lighting seem better this week for Meg. It would be good for the questions to go both ways for a more natural conversation. Is Meg in a position to answer the questions also? Otherwise great work, I like the new segment!

  7. Q/A: Recently on the new TM Prelude 2 campaign, new expansion maps are being offered, but they only were offered as neoprene mats which would come with their own boxes, but wouldn't fit in the big box for example. Numerous backers, including me, asked for these new maps to come as cardboard options, with specific layouts mirroring the previous Hellas and Elysium maps, instead of the neoprene mats which included areas for each expansion components increasing the size of each map significantly. Fryxgames and Stronghold Games saw the comments from backers and now are offering the expansion maps as not just cardboard maps, but double-sided limiting space, and they will copy the Helas/ Elysium format, and they hinted at a storage box which may be compatible with the big box – my thoughts being what the Agricola big box did with a three-piece sort of configuration. Where is the line, in your opinion of a company doing something for the fans/consumers benefit, versus a company feeling obligated to do it to avoid bad press? Follow up, why didn't Roxley do this for the new Santorini KS for backers who already had the game, and the golden fleece expansion and only wanted the new cards, but instead had to pay $60 + shipping for another box, board, non-custom workers, tokens (already in golden fleece), and a storage solution?

  8. I literally asked the question about Fromage and Flocked Together 20-45 min before both of the review videos popped up on your channel and didn't bother deleting my comment. But good to know you'll be talking about them a bit more in the next To Back or Not to Back vid! (An oboist is someone who plays the oboe, pronounced oboe-ist)

  9. Food and drink are fine. But not at the game table — unless, it's your game and you don't care. Food consumption is for the time between short games, or during breaks in long games. And if you've eaten messy food, you wash your hands before returning to the table. When I've put the money and effort into acquiring and maintaining a game, it's my rules when handling such. Others can do what they please with the games they've purchased.
