  1. Oh God, it kills me that you skipped over the final blow of Rosine where she thinks she got Guts and goes from "I got you! I finally got you!" to "oh no. He's stuck on me. He's stuck on me! I CAN'T GET AWAY!". So good.

  2. I think this series is so universally respected and loved because it is clear to ANYONE the motivations the characters have without having to dissect too deeply beside the other cool things about the story. The downside is that maybe it feels too obvious sometime but it definetly is a cool thing to have. And still worth a second read for the not so obvious stuff. Dope series love it to death. There is a charm to how unpretentious it is

  3. Im sooo glad that you really loved this arc. IMO its such an incredible, poignant and brutal continuation after golden age to put black swordsman arc into context. Personally this is one of my favorite arcs in the entire Manga.

  4. I've understood Puck sticking around with Guts despite the moral dissonance as a result of the genuine care and compassion that shines through the visage of the the grim Black Swordsman. He can't leave someone good, deep down, alone to rot in the absolute mire that everything tragic in his life left him in.

There's a few spoilers that I'll refrain from addressing now that reinforces this idea later on.

  5. For me, what really sells the "elves" playing war segment is that deep down these are just kids acting out what they've seen the adults in the village do. Really adds a horrific angle to the themes of trauma and abuse in the story. Love these videos and your perspective and I'm really happy to ended up loving Lost Children so much, keep it up!

  6. Not sure if you picked up on this, but the Behelit that the Skull King swallows is specifically Rosine's that he finds in the aftermath. Don't know if that is relevant.

  7. I remember being turned off by this arc when I first read it, but looking back now I think it’s a great bridge to the rest of the series post-black swordsman and post-time skip. As much as Jill claims it, the story of peekaf’s not appreciating the things you have until they’re gone applies a lot more to guts in his leaving the companionship with the band of the hawk, and returning whe things had crumbled, and the dynamic of Jill and rosine is a great analog between guts’ and griffifth’s; both Jill and guts have terrible father figures who have left them open to assault, gambino with donovan and jill’s dad with his friends, have their own battlefields and very narrow outlook with their lives, while looking towards a varyingly misguided but definitely evil friend who looks back at them with debatably homoerotic and undeniably possessive undertones. I think as a whole, Jill’s resolve to fight in the end is placed as a next step of healing for guts, to be able to return to his actual battlefield than the escapism and rage he’s been indulging in for the past two years.

  8. 14:50 OOF was that a chilling use of SFX, glad to see u mostly are highly positive on Lost Children like myself Daniel, it saddens me that no anime adaptation has ever adapted this, rather opting to skip it, and that some fans don't seem to resonate with the raw emotion and tragedy of Rosine and Jill's tale as much as I do.🧚‍♂

  9. This chapter is great because it talks about fantasy, meaning what is fantasy often times writers of fantasy say that fantasy is about escape, but Berserk subverts it by saying that there is no fantasy, there is no paradise, by using horror. Contrast of villians more human than heroes. It's such a commentary on positions and or roles.

  10. I don't see it, so much, as it all just being forgiven—as I just see it as an unwillingness or at least some reluctance to give up on Guts, even in spite of everything. Like, yeah, it's bad; but maybe there's still some possibility of hope? / how much WORSE would it get with no one there even trying to put some checks on/around Guts' actions? IDKK – maybe that's just me! 🤷‍♀️🤣😁🙂
