  3. I cant believe he made it as far as ya'll let him. He never embodied what hip hop was. Imo Drake is the FIRST INDUSTRY PLANT. Hip hop was for the niggas from the HOOD and the GHETTO'S Not a Canadian from Degrassi. I just never resonated with his music. I know its solid. Dont get me wrong. He solid. He just didnt have that Backstory that Wayne, Juvie, and BG had as well as MOST if not all that came before him. I didnt miss the era cuz he definitely been around, but definitely dodged that muthafucka.

  4. The man has chose to adapt and evolve, there is no limit to a man like that, that changes with the times and appeals to the younger generation as well as the old, we grew up with him now its time for the young to have their take. Just because it doesnt appeal to old doesnt mean he shouldnt appeal to the young that is the future. You need to broaden your view and see the bigger picture outside of that, this take is criticism for here and now, not the future, because no one knows the future.

  5. The Drake era was over years ago, he been rapping uninspired for like 5 to 7 years on his projects but the masses and his massive fan base were blinded by is singles and streaming numbers. Don’t get me wrong he is a great artist but he’s been falling off for quite sometime and now the door is closing on him. Nothing is wrong with that this happens to all the greats eventually they just have to transition to something else, he had a hell of a run tho.

  6. Ok so I think the big 3 in hip hop currently in modern hip hop are Drake j cole and probably someone like Tyler the Creator. I don’t believe Kendrick qualifies because he’s not really an active participant in current rap. He has 1 (mediocre) album in the last 5 years. mediocre to the point where his own fans have said he made MMATBS as a concept album with the intent of it not having replay Value. j Cole bar for bar in terms of storytelling, punchlines, flows, overall impact, consistency and enjoyability is better than Kendrick. Tyler on the other hand In terms of rapping , writing, storytelling, consistency and production is top tier. Drake is a rapper, R&B singer , producer and ghostwriter and has to appeal to a very broad fan base. Also the time stamp series Drakes time stamp series is better bar for bar than the heart series Kendrick has.

  9. I really dont know why he just doesnt give the fans a complete album of bars. he could drop a double album one of bars and the of r&b/pop joints he can experiment on. drop them at the same time.

  10. Drake is one of if not the most prolific writers in the history of music. From 2009 he has literally written hundreds of hits ( in multiple genres
)for himself and other artists. Artists include but are not limited to Kanye, lil wayne, Jay z, Beyoncé, partynextdoor, Jamie foxx and Alicia keys. J Cole is an all time great rapper, label owner and producer and one of the best feature artists of the 2010s- present. Love yourz and 4 your eyez only (song not album) are 2 of the best hip hop songs of all time. Kendrick is also a great rapper and is a multiple time Grammy award winner, but due to him quitting music for years at a time, I don’t feel it’s fair for him to be mentioned with Cole and Drake. For simpler context, Drake is Lebron, J Cole is Kevin Durant and Kendrick is kawahi Leonard. I believe the real big 3 of rap (currently as of 2023) to be Drake , J Cole and Tyler the creator.

  11. I agree. Drake is the biggest commercially, but Cole and Kendrick are better artists. Drake is like the MCU whereas Cole and Kendrick are Nolan-esque. Nolans films may not be as big as MCU films in terms of box office, but Nolan's films are pure art.

  12. Drake needs to accept his run and focus on growing with his audience. His continuous drive in producing music to play in cafes and kids background music during forenite is killing his overall appeal.

  13. This is an interesting opinion however hear me out I won’t say Drake’s era is over because whether or not the album is good/bad he’s still the biggest in the world. Drake took the mantle from Wayne who was the biggest in the world when Wayne stopped being the biggest then his era ended and we moved to the Drake era. Frankly, we have not seen anyone from the younger guys who can really come and take that from Drake or even wants to take it away from Drake regardless of if Drake’s music is good or not. If you look at basketball or play 2k Lebron was still a staple at Kobe’s era however it became Lebron’s era when he won his ring and became the best player in the world. Someone needs to take it from Drake first and as of right now we can say that nobody can atm. I am very excited to see what happens when he goes on a break and doesn’t drop for 2/3 years then we will see which of these young boys is man enough to actually take it for themselves.

  14. Joe's a blatant asshole, but he's right on Drake trying to compete and stay up with these young kids born in the 2000s now.
Us 80s babies are getting up there (I was born in 1989; all of 34 years old), we getting old but alot of us don't want to face it lol.
I have, I stopped really rapping in like 2017, I turned 28 that year and was like "I'm not selling out, not compromising, my music won't blow" so
I chose the righteous route and just do music for myself and whomever wants to hear/listen.

36 soon to be 37 is when Jayz retired (well at least for a bit), esp Drake having accomplished so much by like 30,
he doesn't need to rap anymore. He already siad he's taking time off to focus on his stomach issues, etc and take a break from music.
    ITs TIME.

I'm from Toronto, Born n Raised, he's done ALOT for our city, for Hip Hop/R&B and just Black Culture in Canada since like circa 2009
onwards which is GREATLY Appreciated, but The 2010s is gone, it's a new era.

He just needs to find the NEXT HIM from Toronto and call it a day.

  15. Dude, I've felt like this about Drake ever since he dropped in 2009—Niketalk days. Never could get into his albums. I only have 6 Drake songs in my library and he's not even on one of the songs (Skepta). Ive always felt like most of his music has the same issues everyone seems to be complaining about with FATD. Drake is an above average rapper, but i still have yet to experience a moment where I'm blown away by one of his songs. It mostly feels whiny, lazy, corny and hard for me to catch a feel from. It always sounds so generic and sleepy (outside of the banger hit records).

  16. Man, I’m amazed people get paid provide opinion on someone else creative work. If people didn’t create then these profiles wouldn’t exist. It’s crazy and interesting!!

  17. If it’s over who’s gonna pick it up? Lol rap rn literally doesn’t have a future. It’s holding on to any big name. The internet hates this album. Yet the sales say other wise. Hate it or love it what other artist beside Ye who else will have this much talk about their album? The game needs Drake. Take this album away rn and the game is DRY.

  18. I agree, I think Drake strayed away from his signature sound like 8 am in charlotte, and champagne poetry. If he dedicated an entire album with that sound alone it would do numbers but I think he doesn't care. He's like the Uncle thats trying to keep up with his nephew to show that he still got it. When I was a kid I don't ever remember Jay Z trying to make song that catered to a younger audience, he just made great music. Same thing with MJ and Prince as they got older they never tried catering to the younger audience.

  19. Two things:
When I 1st heard Drake, I was like, hoo diss tennessee tuxedo sounding dood
    coming with this 'rap lite"?
2nd: as far as this 'industry plant' thing goes,
    Drake WAS THE FIRST

  20. All facts no cap! Take Care & NWTS are his best bodies of work. Since then his best project was IYRTITL and that was a mixtape. His dominant run consists mostly of playlist-worthy feature appearances and packaged "studio hits".

  21. Lol era isnt over. I can 100% bet in a few weeks people are going to call it a classic album when they finally realize that its a concept album that goes with CLB, HL, and that the three were a concept in its entirety. And that yes the damn album is about being a villain. lol it aint for the women or the homies. Its literally the same subject as Brent Faiyaz Wasteland, but neatly covered in a litany of entendres. Its annoying but funny to watch so many reviewers and people in general not get it… the track titles is a major clue, like that bad bunny verse when read in english is the opposite of gently. People with art history knowledge gonna understand the relevance of "drew a Picasso", the album cover isnt a dog its actually a demon…. dogs dont have red eyes and horns, or the fact that they went to literary devices is sick. J.Coles verse literally every other line is a simile meanwhile Drakes verses uses only hyperboles (that is so F* hard and only writers are gonna pick up on it).

def get why yachty says its his best album. In terms of concept, cohesion and artistry i def agree. The attention to minute details is crazy
