The chevy cavalier was a captive import and sold as a Toyota in Japan to counterbalance 90s import laws. IE For every Chevy sold in Japan they could sell another Lexus stateside. yes there are TRD Cavaliers lol. Idk if this counts in the import stats mentioned but fun none the less.
Lebrons a pro driver hes listening live mid atlantic I imagine
I'm from Greece and my aunt (who has money too) who's over there has a compact early 2000's chevy instead of the common base model Mercedes/Peugeots/Toyota/Citroen etc and that stupid chevy turns soooo many heads its ridiculous
Great episode.
What was the drink he had in the beginning and is it online anywhere?
23:26 you’re a racists if you use the term dajiban has to be the most coastal white guilt speak I’ve ever heard on this show. You guys are in a safe space. You’re not going to get cancelled for saying bippu or dajiban as long as you don’t sound like Mickey Rooney from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
TST crew show featuring Rzr-roll and 5 mg 🤣
That countach is going to cost $150k before he knows it. And drive like Brockway dump truck when it’s done.😂 . I’ve driven them . They suck to drive plain and simple. It will never be what he’s trying to get out of it.
the Cavalier was sold as a Toyota in Japan. it was part of the NUMMI shared manufacturing agreement i believe
1. Mt Fuji ( the Atmosphere just rules and that million mile straight plus its a Toyota thing )
2. Bathurst ( Ultimate halo track for Aussies/Nz )
3. Philip Island ( Imagine a real life Gran Turismo track, flowy and right on the ocean! Also cute penguin sanctuary nearby )
And never been but Le man's, Suzuka, Nurburg, Monza and The US tracks are on the list, honestly all the great world tracks.
Zack big glitch at 25.50 for about 3 seconds, but happening in all vids lately.
The dajiban people don’t want Americans to make them. Wantanabe (sp) won’t sell you the right spec wheels even though they know what they are and everyone in Japan uses them.
Asian American here – my 2 cents Matt. trust me NO japanese person will be offended by the dajiban pronunciation LOL only we Americans are constantly thinking about race and its quite annoying. We and the Canadians seem to be overtly conscious and sensitive about race. Its turning us into weak Men. Quit it already
Little known fact about the Cavalier, Toyota sold rebadged Chevy Cavaliers, even had optional TRD body parts for them.
Solid episode dudes, great way to end a long day of work. Lot of laughs 😂 “Do you think I chose the right wheels” 💀 I’m fuckin dead Zack oh my god
I'm so glad to hear the true George Gray story. When I saw that video and later heard that it was actually a 280Z and not a real Ferrari that Matt was driving, he lost all credibility with me (not that I know anything at all) and I stopped watching Matt's content for a while. I'm sure thousands of others did the same. It shows the damage that can be done by one BS'ing POS.
🙂
Favorite tracks.. COTA. My first and only f1 experience. Silverstone. Laguna Seca(years and years perfecting that turn on Gran Turismo)
That 5.9 had a notorious issue with leaking coolant from the intake.. hemi swap would be good the issue is fitment in the van is rough. Love the show been a fan for years I'm not a fan of doing those intakes on the 5.9 lol..
I hate listening to these clueless guys, but what other car podcasts are there?
Sounds like most funerals in the hood when the person the memorial was for was taken too early…..
We got 10mg Tom and 5mg Matt!
Good safari might be like BMW 3 series wagon with 3l or something.

25:10 Zach, Toyota sold the Cavalier in Japan with a Toyota badge.
Sounds line one hell of a party for a funeral. Sorry for you loss Matt.
Any love for Mosport?
Update: Here's why Cavaliers were imported https://www.hemmings.com/stories/car-culture/classics/why-did-toyota-sell-the-cavalier-in-japan-under-its-own-badging-in-the-1990s
C8 haters looking for reasons to hate
Note on the Cavalier: Toyota brought them in and rebadged them as Toyota Cavalier.
Fav tracks Nurburgring Nordschleife, SPA and Laguna Seca
Fun fact about the cavalier in Japan, they were rebadged as toyota's, part of that hole quiet GM/toyota partnership back in the 90s
You guys should try Assetto Corsa/iRacing in VR, some real race drivers have done comparison videos and they say it's pretty much on besides the g forces.
As far as what vehicle best represents the place from which its named….Chevrolet Corsica.
Matt is so annoying. All he does is talk about himself. Has no interest in anyone or anything unless he is involved and gets to state his unwanted opinions.
Man, Matt sounds high yet focused enough to keep the show going, 5mg is the perfect dosage for him, loose and giggly, happy for you guys
I'm Kenyan, and African culture is so distinct from over there, I would only pour myself half and give Zack the other half. I'm glad you'll get him a few cans from the case that was sent, the African part of me was so mad at you
Regarding the responsibility of selling really fast cars. If I’m remembering correctly, back when I worked for a BMW dealer, they would not remove the 150mph speed cap on your car unless you opted for the performance driving school package. It’s not a lot but it’s something.
if anybody is interested in the Chris Harris account of Zack's RZR Flip, it's in a TST podcast from November 2013 at the 1 hour and 38 minute mark with Harris, Musto, Spinelli, and some others
Wish Zach had his own show
As an owner of a 2nd gen ram, they did have independent front suspension. I'm 95% sure.
1:58:39 I don't think a 944 would be a good Safari to be honest. Yeah they have a big displacement but they are super oversquare engines and not very torquey. I've never driven a 944 but my dad has a 968 and to be honest my NA miata has more shove out of the hole (probably mostly gearing but still)
RIP John, sounds like a legend and a mensch
I love this show! Yes it feels good. Glad you sampled the waters. Everybody hates a quitter.
this is the first episode I've watched at home, usually listen on the road, great episode I had a great time listening
Take that B18 Integra thing put the engine in the back badass differential, some floor work for aero and cooling in the front to keep some weight and balance.. wing splitter.. KTM xbow with a different Honda engine and different suspension. Obvious the suspension geometry won't be as good!!!.. but the idea is there 🤔
Tiered licenses would kill the super car market and it’s probably not the most effective way to save people’s lives.
