  1. It will come as no surprise about the T120 to attentive viewers 🙂 with regard to the clocks and mounting on the Norton I prefer it to the Triumph, one part doing more than one job, much more robust mounting and much cleaner easier to read fuss free clocks that won't date quickly, although I'm not in the market for either bike. Lovely audio and visuals as always Nick, the English countryside at its very best, cheers.
Edit, I forgot to say I think the openness of the panels and frame is a nod to lightweight racing bikes, so as to create a sense of lightness and minimalism to the bike.

  2. Nice Choice, I have the T100 but will you find a problem like I found if you want to fit a tank bag with the fuel filler sitting proud and to one side of the tank. Let me know if you found a solution.

  3. Out of interest, what made you choose the Bonneville, as opposed to the Speed Twin? Same price, but the ST has more power, more sophisticated front end and brakes, whilst still being clearly a 'classic' model. I imagine luggage options will be more or less identical for your travel needs. Glad you are keeping the 10, I still have mine bought in 2020 largely on your recommendation / experience. 13500 miles in two and a bit years, it is brilliant. Your video quality is one of the best btw!

  4. Nice choice mate! Did you ever consider the BMW R NineT? I will be making the choice next year and my top two classics are also the T120 due to the CC (I wish the Speed Twin offered CC as an option but it does not) and the R NineT PURE. My mind is set on the R9T PURE (reasons mainly: shaft drive, wider rear tire, love the look of the single-sided swing arm, 17inch tires, simple home service once the warranty runs out, and mainly the looks). So will be interested to watch your journey with the T120 and what you add to it!!!)

  6. Great choice Nick I was miles out but luv the T120 great looking bike and I would luv to own one .As far as the Norton goes on looks and the figures I have seen for at half that price I would think twice and get a Triumph but the looks just don't do it for me be it tank shape and especially what see as an old fashioned looking tail piece which just looks awful to me , and all the reasons you motioned on top . Good watch and looking forward to getting jealous of the Tenerife trip 😉👍

  7. I always enjoy your reviews as a MT10SP owner and rider its always interesting here your thoughts etc. However like yourself I also decided I would like a classic second bike and probably went through very similar options like yourself also having seen your review on it purchased a Royal Enfield Interceptor for £6000 non chrome model which is why I find myself slightly bemused by your comments on your comparison between the Triumph T120 you suggest the engine finish and overall quality and cruise control is better on the T120 and with great respect to Triumph which are great bikes there is a hell a difference between there prices, the actual cost of the triumph is a lot closer to £12000 on the road which I'm sure if that amount of £6000 difference was included in the Royal Enfield pricing you would not be talking about any finish levels etc. And you wouldn't have to wait a coupe of extra months to get the funds needed to buy the T120.
And with that saving you could buy either a second interceptor or for a lower cost indeed a green lane or off road SCRAM type bike and still have funds left over to have a holiday its a bit of a no brainer!!!

  8. Hi
Picked mine up in June this year. Absolutely love it. I know you have ridden one, but the first thing I noticed riding back from the garage when I picked it up was the wind blast. Compared to many bikes you absolutely sit on top of this and act as a wind break. First thing I did was add a Givi screen. Made a massive difference. Interestingly I also got a Triumph Scrambler 900 a couple of months ago.I had the fly screen fitted. I didn’t appreciate how effective it actually is. For a small screen it really does the job.

  9. The Norton fork clamps are anodised aluminium and done in a bead blasted finish. They are not painted. Agree with you about Norton missing a trick. These should have had the same spec as the Triumph Bonnevilles, as in 6 speed, cruise control, decent instruments with nice traditional graphics, as well as well sorted mechanics like the kick stand. Currently they are like a 10 year old bike. I recently bought a new Speedmaster Gold Line edition and the fit and finish is superb. The Norton 961 needs to be as well sorted as the new Triumphs, otherwise they will not sell, especially with all the negative press about the unreliable engine from the initial production.

  10. It's frustrating that Norton just can't get their bikes right or get their costs down.
I know Stuart Garner ripped everyone off & left the company for dead, but even 2nd time around, with a fresh go at it; they're getting it wrong.
The usual bling of Ohlins & Brembo can't hide the fact they're offsetting costs with cheap parts & still charging a fortune for their bikes.
A good quality retro' naked is pretty easy to get right for around £12,000 imo.
    The Japanese can do it.
I think everyone wants Norton to do well. They're just not able to do so.

  11. Just purchased my second T120 last week. A 2023 in blue and white. You will love it. I've owned 40 motorcycles and and it is in the top 3. Congrats. December won't come soon enough.

  12. I had the T120 for slightly less than one year and admittedly it looks great, eventually I switched to a sportier choice but always appreciated its look while the torque was also very nice to ride. To be honest, I had some regrets about the speed twin, which ai found more complete as a package, although it didn’t look as nice as the T120, at least not as “retro”. Did you pick the T120 rather than the Speed Twin just for the look ? Thanks ! ✌️

  13. congrats to the Bonneville 120 very good choice…. I myself ride a 100 but for the trip you’re planning a 120 is more suitable.
About the Norton I agree with you…. for that price it should be the perfect bike but according the test riders it isn’t really so …. I’d rather take a T100 instead and compared to the 120 it won’t stand a chance at all in my opinion….
