NASA Has Locked Four People Inside This Simulated Mars Base For A Year!
These four volunteers have just been locked inside a simulated Mars base, and plan to stay there for just over a year. The crew comprising of a flight engineer, medical officer, science officer, and mission commander will live and work inside the 158-square-metre, 3D printed habitat as apart of NASA’s CHAPEA mission. This is an analogue mission meaning it will take place on Earth however, the crew will grow produce, experience equipment failures, have delayed communication with mission control and must don an EVA suit if they venture outside. The objective is to collect cognitive and physical performance data of each participant, to better understand what psychological and physical situations a real Martian crew may contend with. Are you brave enough to do this? Let me know in the comments.
