  1. You should check out the DKC2 version of this song. That is where the track originally came from, and that version feels a lot more euphoric (sounds like you're floating on a cloud). 100% worth a listen. I prefer the OG over this remix for smash, but to each their own!

  2. This is a favorite of mine! An orchestration based on the original composition from one of the greats, David Wise, who wrote the music for the original Donkey Kong Country games. If you ever get the urge, listen to the original Stickerbush Symphony or some other fan favorites, Aquatic Ambiance and/or Forest Interlude

The songs are super ahead of their time, they’re almost predictive of the shoegaze resurgence, but stand as beautiful pieces of music that evoke a sense of nostalgia, calmness, and mystery.

  3. As always, loved your reaction and breakdown Tony. Especially for this piece, as it's kind of a classic imo. You're right the loop didn't add anything different, but I wonder for future votes if people should mention in their suggestion whether there are any differences.

  4. There is an INSANE cover of this in a brawl fan album called "Harmony of Heroes"
The track is called "Rush of the Rainforest" and its easily one of my favourite VGM covers ever made!

  5. Glad to hear you liked this piece! When I first played Super Smash Bros Brawl years ago, this song immediately captivated my heart, such that I went out and bought Donkey Kong Country 2 where this originates and another game composed by the arranger of this specific rendition.

The difference between these two is rather large but both I think are exceptional tracks for different reasons. The original was composed by a legend in video game composing – David Wise – and this arrangement comes to us from a rather underrated composer Michiko Naruke. She is most well known for her work in composing the Wild Arms series of RPGs starting back on PlayStation 1, composing the first 4 games of that series solo before later leading the sound team for those titles. Those soundtracks are very interesting for being extremely inspired by the scores of spaghetti western movies – especially those composed by Ennio Morricone – which is rather rare for game music, especially coming out of Japan. I'd love if a track from that series ever were to come up in a future poll, though I understand they are a lot more niche and unlikely to win

  6. This version of the song, for some reason is really nice to listen to when there is a thunderstorm outside and you can hear the rain fall. It's like the thunders complement it.
