Liz Truss substitute Penny Mordaunt stumbles to defend Prime Minister: A Government minister insisted Liz Truss was “not under a desk” hiding from MPs after the Prime Minister was urged to quit. Shouts of “where is she?” and “weak” could be heard in the Commons after Penny Mordaunt deputised for Liz Truss to respond to an urgent question on the Prime Minister’s decision to appoint a new Chancellor. Commons Leader Ms Mordaunt said: “With apologies to the Leader of the Opposition and the House, the PM is detained on urgent business… and I’m afraid you’ll have to make do with me.”

  1. "The events that lead up to the statement that is being made today are unfortunate…" as if this were just bad luck and nothing to do with their horrendous policies, this shows any lack of responsibility and accountability. The only thing to have anything to do with fortune is the one made by those despicable enough to profit from creating economic instability in order to line their own pockets. The kind of people the Prime Minister, and her previous Chancellor, were involved with and were getting their 'advice' from.

  2. The way things are going we will need foreign aid,not giving it out, this government need gone before they drive us into a third world country,we need a general election on grounds of no confidence, this government has damaged this country,it's people and it's economy beyond belief and instead of repairing it,they are making it worse

  3. Both tories and Labour are awful and haven't done anything for the people of the country for a long time, neither are the party of the working class now. We need a new party to step up without 90% of them being privately educated fools who know nothing about real life and the struggles the majority go through.

  4. If the MP is having trouble with an explosive diarrhea, obviously she cannot attend to any meeting and it’s embarrassing to say it.
Therefore, everyone should be more considerate and accept the “she’d like to be here but she is not able to at the moment”. FFS

  5. Dizzy Lizzy and her party landed us 6k bills for lies that Putin using gas supplies as leverage or hes got a European agenda . Both we know are untrue ! What's not untrue is the bills we now face because we helped a corrupt country . Who uses a truck bomb and laughs about it ? Who shells a nuclear plant ? Who hasn't payed pensioners in the east since 2015 ? I could go on and it's always the same answer ! Zelensky and Ukraine

  6. The Tory Party are stumbling from self-inflicted crisis to self-inflicted crisis and bringing the country to its knees in the process. The only glimmer of hope that I see is that the Torys are now unelectable
