  1. Can't vouch for every single character, as I am not 100% familiar with all the words, but here it goes:
    "Mysticism: The Unfathomable voyage

    by Tetronius Lor

Mysticism is the school of magic least understood by the magical community and the most difficult to explain to novice mages. The spell effects commonly ascribed to the school of mysticism are as extravagantly disparate as soul trap, the creation of a cell that would hold a victim's spirit after death, to telekinesis, the manipulation of objects at a distance. But these effects are simply that – effects. The sorcery behind them is veiled in a mystery that goes back to the oldest civilizations of Tamriel and perhaps beyond.

The Psijics of the Isle of Artaeum have a different term for mysticism: "the old way". The phrase becomes bogged in semantic quagmire because "the old way" also refers to the religion and customs of the Psijics which may or may not be part of the magic of mysticism.

There are few mages who devote their lives to the study of mysticism. The other schools are far more predictable and ascertainable. Mysticism seems to derive power from the conundrums and paradoxes. The act of experimentation no matter how objectively implemented can influence magicka by its very existence. Therefore the mystic mage must consign himself to finding dependable patterns within a roiling imbroglio of energy in the time it takes him to devise an enchantment with a consistent trigger and result. His peers in the other schools may have researched and documented dozens of new spells and effects. The mystic mage must thus be a patient and relatively uncompetitive philosopher.

For centuries mostly during the second era scholarly journals published theory after theory about the aspect or aspects of magicka lumped together under mysticism. In the Mages Guilds tradition of finding answers to all things respected researchers suggested that mysticism's penultimate energy source was the Aetherium itself or else Daedric beings of unimaginable power. Either rationale would explain the seemingly random figurations of mysticism. Some even ventured that mysticism arose from the unused elements of successfully or even unsuccessfully cast spells. Discussion within the Order of Psijics after Artaeum's reappearance has led some scholars to postulate that mysticism is less spiritual in nature as was originally supposed and that either the intellect of the emotional state of the believer is sufficient to influence the energy configuration and flaw.

None of these explanations is truly satisfactory taken by itself. For the beginning student of mysticism it is best simply to learn the patterns distinguishable in the maelstrom of centuries past. The more pattern are discovered the clearer the remaining ones become until of course they change for inevitably they have to and then the journey begins anew."

  2. Even though it was all completely random, I ADORED the Cowardly Knight's "character development."

A first, he was utterly cowardly, yelling "I surrender!" at slightest threat and running away.

Then he gets braver, turning invisible and swinging wildly during combat.

Then, finally, he wades into the battle with the goblin shaman and strikes a decisive blow on a warrior!

The punchline, immediately after in the next room he goes invisible and cries "Don't hurt me!" and running away at the first sign of danger, backsliding to the way he was at the beginning and showing he learned nothing.

I swear, Oblivion always feels like a Python skit.

  3. I realize her status as "the only alchemist in Skingrad" somewhat pigeonholed the mod creator, but it's still so funny to me that Ms. "Do you know what the fine is in Cyrodiil for necrophilia?" is telling you how wrong it is to eat human meat.

  4. 4:58 It's kinda funny to me that most people in TES still react strongly against cannibalism when Bosmer exist. I kinda numbed to the notion after reading A Dance in Fire, in TES contexts anyway.
11:43 Well, in 700+hrs of running UL, I've never seen it, so I guess it's a conflitc with Better Cities?
12:46 100x better than the random hostile adventurers in Skyrim.
15:12 OOO "faction" that has decent gear and runs around purging goblin lairs with varying degrees of success. Kind of a fun quest. Weird that one keeps running, in all my playthroughs they charge headfirst to their doom.
18:28 I don't like Skyrim-level markers, but Oblivion's are about right for me.
43:01 Ah… one of my characters took many trips to that exact altar. He was based on Nightmare from the Soul Calibur franchise, and thus needed black soul gems. Was a fun run.

  5. Huh. The mod got something wrong. Necromancy isn't illegal in Cyrodiil, just banned by the Mages Guild. That being said, since the funereal rites of Arkay are ubiquitous here, and being cut off from the guild means no access to their resources, most necromancers resort to murdering people for parts.

  6. J'zirr uncovering a secret Cannibal Conspiracy after sinking in hundreds of gold and weeks of in game time of protracted investigating just to get bored of it and wander off at the end is such a Cat Khajit Thing and I love it.

  7. Honestly thank you so much this just made my day after a rough exam. Also the lord baron quest in my experience with it even if you miss the day to talk with the doctor you just go at the original which is 8pm in game and ask the doctor questions and you should progress the quest and find more evidence in the upstairs for the other part of the quest.

  8. I don't know how easy it is to do in oblivion, but could be neat to adjust J'zirr's name with console commands to Sir J'zirr – just so it shows up like that in any notes or dialogue prompts and the like. Show his proper knightly title n all!

"Msticism (? lol missing a "Y" there but I have the runic table next to me so this is what the upper title says, though some letters are mirrored & idk why)

ok I give up that's the end of page 4, someone else can have the honor of continuing but i had some fun learning daedric by doing this

(It seems whoever wrote this book didn't know the daedric runes for the letters Y and X so far…)
also it irks me that daedric doesn't have punctuation
EDIT: Oh fuck I didn't see someone else already gave it a full translation in the comments hahah good job to them

  10. You blew my mind with Goblin Wars mechanic! I have never even heard anyone talk about it, and never encountered it myself. That is incredible, I know what I'm doing in my next playthrough!
