  1. I understand what you’re saying about “controlling the narrative” and “mission statement”; however, I feel that the problem isn’t with what they say. Disney continues to try to say the “right” things. The problem is that it hasn’t matched it’s actions for a number of years now as they continue to push projects that are relatively easy for them and not quality new projects. Examples of this include the number of sequels and live action remakes, putting IP into existing rides/restaurants, the upcoming San Fransokio retheme at DCA, underwhelming Disney+ series, etc. In nearly all aspects of the business the recent norm has been to put the minimum effort in and charge as much as possible. This has led to their fan base being skeptical of their messages. So I don’t feel they need better communication, but that they really need to decide whether they want their new projects to match the quality that they tell us is their standard (as you touch on later).

  2. Theres no mystery Disney’s fall from grace is directly tied to their heavy pivot to interject “political correctness” in their storytelling and parks. For example, Marvel Cinematic Universe was doing fantastic when they stuck to comic canon, only when they changed focus to introducing lesser know female heroes mirroring the classic male archetypes did they see massive declines in interest. This is not to say that you can’t have strong women characters succeed, such as black widow, however deviating too far from what the ticket buying audience wants (which for comic movies is predominantly males age 20-50) only devalues their rich character base and drives away moviegoers.

  3. I agree with most of what you said however I don't agree with the continually making announcements of new projects at this time. They need to stop the construction for a little bit and finish up what they started and clean up the parks maintenance wise. You don't have to keep adding new attractions you need to improve the quality of what you have first. Finish that Mona traction in Epcot. Take care of that play pavilion do something with it. Stop taking so long to complete these projects.

  4. I would like to see continued investment in old franchises like Toy Story but also new stories come to life. Above all I’d like to see more investments in the parks as far as new rides, lands and continued maintenance on the current attractions.
Also can we have more organic food options in the park.

  5. Disney needs to do A LOT as a company to fix itself. Sadly, I don’t think there is any turning back at this point. They lost me as a customer around 2019 (a diehard fan since I was a child) and I haven’t looked back since. No amount of nostalgia will make me buy a Disneyland park ticket or watch Disney movies on their streaming platform. I really don’t like how politically charged they have become and their quality of film / innovation and storytelling is beyond weak.

  6. I have information straight from a Disneyland Castmember that Josh D'Amaro is horrible to Castmembers behind the scenes. He either ignores their needs or is completely disconnected from what his job is because he is too busy cultivating a public persona.

  7. Is it strange that I keep forgetting it's the 100 year anniversary? That's a big freaking deal & I feel like I haven't heard much about it! Granted I'm a little out of the Disney news world as I haven't paid much attention but you'd think it would be a big deal even outside of the Disney sphere since it's a big cultural touch stone. And while I haven't been to the mall in awhile, I wish the Disney store would be around for this celebration because it would help carry the anniversary even outside the parks. You also brought up a good point about how Disney hasn't brought up nostalgia into their marketing which is weird because 100 years has a lot of history. Overall, it just feels like any other year for Disney

  8. Is there any way Bob Iger could just spend a few moments out of his week and just watch this? Pretty much covers everything. The cruise line business is the only stand-alone business that remains entirely Disney. It's like the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing within the company.

  9. Knock off all the woke/crt crap. Get back to being family friendly, and all cut prices by atleast 50%. Eliminate paid parking. Make each subsequent annual pass renewal 10% less than before. Stop canceling conservative actors.

  10. I went to Disney World this summer for a Week. That was my first time there, a dream planned for long: Unfortunality my experience have been negatively impacted by all the reservation system: Day/parcs, Attraction lightening lane, virtual queue, restaurants to booked several months before the travel… I didn't feel in vacation. I had to fallow a schedule and struggle with the application to do anything. I am still glad to accomplish this dream travel, but this multiples reservations need to changes! It can't be the most magical place in the world with all this mandatory management to do anything. I was not able to do most of Galaxy Edge because restaurants and shops are under booking months in advance. No places to wander around and the spontaneous adventure as it supposed to be in a immersive experience. It is so difficult to be negative, i would be not. Be that the truth. I will stay supportive for improvement.

  11. I talked about some of this on my channel and wanted to do an expanded video like this.. and my thoughts align with yours.. but one thing i would add is magic keys especially for Disneyland. Disney says it wants more then just Southern Californian visitors yet they make it hard for those to buy magic keys. Theyre not all available and for some reason only socal residents can pay monthly for them. They give discounted tickets for socal residents and i get that but then they complain that there is just socal pass/key holders coming to the parks and not spending money.

  12. Do you think that epic universal will be just as big as Disney World I am already sold on Epic Universal they have Mario Brothers How to train your dragon so on yes they have very creative team but there some factors that will turn away audiences and fans I’m already going to unsubscribe from Disney + after Mandalorian season 3 I’m really not excited about Disney content and products right now that’s all

  13. 38:00 – "Park Announcements" … No. Not yet. Now is not the time. First because 'TRON: Lightcyle Run is just opening. Announcing something new steps on its toes. Second, just a moment ago you were preaching that Disney should embrace nostalgia. What the heck, man? Now you to an about face and claim they should give attention to the future? Mixed messages? Inconsistencies? No. Open TRON and support it with marketing. Launch the 100th anniversary celebration and support it with more marketing. In around eight months EPCOT will unveil the new front section of the park (World Discovery, World Nature and World Celebration). That's plenty of new stuff to attract the crowds going into 2024 And remember, Universal has ZERO major new attractions coming to IOA or USF in the near future, and in January 2024, Epic Universe will still be a year and a half away from opening. So when should Disney roll out the big announcements? D23 Expo in 2024. For three reasons. First because D23's announcements in 2022 were dismissed as empty and unexciting. By announcing big plans in 2024 they will make up for that mess. Second (and this one is big) by that time, Disney will be prepared to introduce its new CEO. Third, it will give some electricity about things to look forward to as it relates to Disney. Take a look at Universal's announcement in August 2019. That was when they gathered the press at the Orange County Convention Center and announced their plans to build Epic Universe. All they had was a logo. No specific attractions were announced. No concept art. But they had to announce something because in August 2019 Disney opened Star Wars Galaxy's Edge (with Smuggler's Run) on both coasts.. A few months later, in November 2019, Disney+ launched. In December 'Rise of the Resistance' — one of the most impressive theme park attractions ever built — opened at WDW and DLR. At that time Ratatouille, Cosmic Rewind and TRON were waiting in the wings, as was the DW 50th anniversary celebration. In August of 2019 no one knew about COVID. So faced with the likelihood that WDW was going to be dominating theme park news, Universal/Comcast made their announcement. Disney should do the same thing. Disney should focus on what they are about to open and celebrate those openings, and then blow it up big with a new CEO and attraction announcements at D23 2024.

  14. I believe the biggest thing Disney can do as a parks fan, bring back value and as you said the “Disney difference”. When disney joined the streaming world they subsidized it with the parks and the park experience has drastically gotten worse as they continue to gouge the parks guests.

  15. Jack, I love Disney so much to!! But they need to stop pushing political aganda and forcing it into there programs I personally think story telling has suffered from it Disney needs to be about everyone not just one group one person 2 or three people etc if Disney is for everyone they need to start acting like it again because I feel this has made the parks suffer ,tiana could have had her on restaurant or a beignet stand near There’s something so much more you could do with or next to Tianas ride area! I love you Disney trust me I do, but you need to take a long look in the mirror and see what got you this far you need to look back to see forward in this case I don’t care what political party you are you need to be universally respectable to everyone, Disney, parks and Disney in general once again, it’s for EVERYBODY!

  16. I’m sorry, I have to disagree with you regarding the purpose NOW for park reservations. It may have started out with good intentions for limiting social interactions between guests, and they can say it’s for proper staffing, but clearly, they have been staffing parks for 45+ years without it, they can continue without it – especially since they are scrolling back on even character experiences due to low staffing! That’s not it! The real reason is to get a number of guests to be able to adjust their food and Genie+ pricing – raising the price when guest numbers increase! That’s appalling to me and so greedy!

  17. If Disney really wants to fix their parks, they should build the things they promised for Epcot like the Mary Poppins attraction and the new festival pavilion and the play pavilion since they kind of started installing things inside there they might as well finish that project, add more countries two world showcase, build that theater building they were going to build at Magic Kingdom since they cleared out the Landford already, they spent all the time clearing that land out they might as well build it, come up with an attraction to replace stitches great escape because that’s just an empty attraction building that could be something, either update the speedway with electric cars so you won’t have to smell all that exhaust or get rid of it and build a sugar rush ride from Wreck-It Ralph I know that won’t exactly fit in tomorrowland, but just something better than those gas guzzling cars.

  18. Agreed! Give power back to frontline cast mbrs to make magic. Give them some fast passes to give out or free Mickey bars or cupcakes in room if it’s a child’s birthday. Small things make memories.

  19. Disney has done way too much with sequels…and way too much politicization as of late….there is Marvel and Star Wars fatigue, and the parks are such a headache to navigate…there is just so much they have done wrong in the past number of years that they’ve really burned the fandom out. It’s going to take a lot to get back to where they need to be. You hit the nail on the head with this video…so many solid points.

Also….WDW better get moving or Epic Universe is really going to cut into Disney’s profits.

  20. My idea would try to get back to the perks for staying in disney
like bring back transportation from airport
make the rooms more Disney like have Disney on towels bed spreads and not plain white like other hotels
Give the hotel guest 1 per day genie +
Bring back the night time parades In magic kingdom

  21. If Disney wants to regain a big chunk of their base then they need to stop with the political nonsense, and stop indoctrination campaigns, ie Proud Family, Strange world, etc. Making solid family films should be priority, and if they want to make other stuff, then do it under an adult label, or push it to the Fox brand. Disney's sudden hatred towards America also needs to stop. Walt was a patriot, Walt IS Disney.
I realize some of that is sort of covered under storytelling first, but still.

  23. Fantastic video Jack! More people need to be saying this:
    Josh Damaro needs to:
    1) End the reservation system
    2) Discontinue all virtual que lines (only use them when new rides first open then stop using them maybe two weeks after said opening; And severely reimagine the process to make it easier and less stressful)
    3) Raise the wages of Cast Members to at least $17/hr
    4) Make all consumers, not just Disney Parks fans, love Disney

  24. There needs to be some more focus on the other parks as well. I think it’s a little sad, that you only speak of Disney World. Especially when there are 5 more parks, that also needs an owerhaul after Chapek.
But I fully agree that they need to do more originals and take some risks, regarding their movies ☝️

  25. In terms of listening to fans, I woukd encourage people to tactfully and respectfully comment on linkedin when news gets shared by people within the company. This is a much more effective way of ensuring someone sees.

  26. I feel they need to pay their employees since what they make they can't afford to stay in the area and then focus on broken rides/cleaning up the park. They need to bring the parks back to high standards we as fans have foe this company BEFORE planning another park.

  27. Overall, Disney has a debt problem. The purchase of 20th Century really added to the company debt right before the pandemic which has changed the way people see movies. The company needs to understand how they can be most profitable with a permanently diminished box office and a move of consumers to streaming. As for the parks, the return of Bruce Vaughn is big. Creativity has been lost in the parks. The new Polynesian tower, Disneyland Hotel tower, Riviera, and Swan Reserve are all terrible designs for a Disney resort. Disney also needs to spend more on attractions…don’t cut budgets.

  29. Jack you kicked ASS on this livestream, it was a mix of using your outline as touchstones to remind you what to bring up, combined with your level headed but passionate stream of consciousness of all things disney really helped provide a perspective on the state of Disney that makes you think. you need to do more of this

  30. Wow! jack! You outdid…Yourself! never seen and heard such great analysis on the state of the Walt Disney Company. I heard many of my class mates complaining for instance that Marvel isn't what used to be and I even heard I friend say Mery Poppins returns ruined the franchise. It seams as if the perception around disney has changed recently

  31. Great assessment. Those who run Disney can hear your words but do not understand what is in the Disney fan’s heart. Dominated by financing and control motivations. Their goal is money. Walt’s motivation was not money.
