Yikes. This took me right back to the 90s and so many ladies I knew doing Weigh Down in conjunction with Bible studies. Just…ugh. The cruelty of tying eating habits to morality and righteousness and sin is just so greiving to me. I also remember a number of ladies that thinking back on it now, were drowning in disordered eating and absolutely unhealthily thin. And furthermore, it's not like we weren't already surrounded by unhealthy dieting pressures in the 90s and absolutely didn't need a "bible-based" one added to it. Ugh Ugh Ugh.
I really do wish I could ask her what her reasoning for her hair choices was, though. It's so hard to take her seriously with that hair. I guess she was hoping larger hair would make her face look skinnier???

I might just be way too empathetic but I feel for Elizabeth and Michael. Michael is the spiral of familial and religious pressure on blast acting out in all the ways possible while trying to keep up appearances (still needs held responsible to actions because he’s an adult). Elizabeth… you can see the emotional trauma on her face and in how she holds herself. Everyone around Gwen was failed. Each and every person.
I will never stop finding it deeply disturbing how the whole cult fetishizes frailty in women. Yes, the men are lean, but the women look downright helpless, zero muscle mass. And the way what's his name was picking up and spinning around Gwen….. she looked like a rag doll in his hands.
