Giant 8 Point Squares Off With Decoy, 190”+ Monarch Claimed By EHD #deerhunting #hunting

On this week’s episode, we join Owen Reigler in Southern Iowa as he returns to the woods after soaking in the successful hunt for the “Lochness Monster” back in early October. Returning to the famed Crabs Plot where he has seen repeated success over the years, Owen targets three mature 8 point bucks and breaks out a buck decoy to hopefully entice one into bow range. After two action packed hunts full of rare buck behavior and multiple encounters with shooters, Owen returns to the same location for the third day in a row hoping to get an opportunity at one of the three 8 points. Then, we catch up with Kaleb Greiner in Eastern Iowa who has a heartbreaking update in the chase for the Iowa monarch known as “Lucky.” After finding that the giant has also fallen to the outbreak of EHD in his area, Kaleb reflects on lessons learned throughout the chase.

  1. Holy smokes! That was some of the best footage I've seen from Owen and Devin!! Congrats to those two again. And Kaleb, keep after it. I feel like you will be rewarded with something BIG!

  2. Awesome, Owen, that's awesome! Man I shot a big buck like that on the 3rd and he walked off just like that ,seeing this video makes me think he's dead but the landowner wouldn't let me go look for my dear cuz he went across the property line….ugh….. I'm glad you got yours, though bub! Dang… if you think that one's 190ish, then the one I shot was 180, maybe……. smh…. I can't help it, though. Landowner wouldn't let me go look…

  3. Amazing hunt, Owen!

This is my second year bowhunting, but I notice two things that really impress me. You draw very smoothly. I'm jealous of that. Second is overall stealth. That buck didn't run because he didn't know a human was there. That first shot would have been enough. He would have stood nearby and probably crashed in sight. Thank you for the amazing footage!
