Police have identified a 7-year-old boy who died following a drive-by shooting on Friday. Officers said Zion Gibbs, a student at Benjamin Martin Elementary School, was shot just after midnight at a home in the 800 block of Danish Drive in Fayetteville. Zion was taken to a hospital in critical condition. According to police, he died Monday from his injuries at UNC Chapel Hill Hospital.
Police are still searching for the shooter. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective C. Crews at 910-751-1046.
