Leopard 45 Catamaran Warranty – Review Continues | REPAIRING OUR NEW BOAT IN THE CARIBBEAN: 3

Much has happened since we last posted! We are in communication with management from Leopard Catamarans and Robertson & Caine, representatives from both have flown out to the boat, the crossbeam was removed as part of the hull inspections and some talented guys from Leopard and JS Marine have flown in to work on the hull with us.

This video continues to give you an insight into what can go right and wrong with new boat ownership. We will be sharing some of the positive developments that have been happening behind the scenes and some of what still needs to be done to launch and continue the adventure.

This video also begins to detail how Travelopia/Leopard catamarans are evolving the speed, care and attention that they give to warranty issues and the still fluid nature of our situation working with them. Trent still has a lot of respect for various R&C and Travelopia staff and is spending a lot of his time and energy trying to steer the situation towards an overall positive outcome for all.

Trent wanted it noted that Leopard/Travelopia choosing to stand with the customer even if at this late stage and by their brand deserves recognition and respect despite the hardship caused unnecessarily in the past by certain staff members and processes.

The non disclosure agreement Trent mentioned was sent to AJ and Tad on SV Helms Deep when they attempted to get a copy of the warranty conditions for issues on their new NEEL 47 Trimaran.
AJ and Tad refused to sign the NDA and have shared it online as part of a series detailing their experience as new owners of a yacht manufactured by NEEL Trimarans. They are new to Youtube so it would be good if the cruising community could show them some support for being brave enough to speak out.

The agreement/contract has been posted here – https://youtu.be/rXjyTF_IyJI

  1. Wow! Yaz! All the feels. Trent is not raging. I sure know what’s that like and I imagine it is like Christmas to have hands and eyes going over your home. Yay! So happy for that. So much that Robertson and Caine have to account for, but a healthy start. So much time lost but…maybe on the right track. Please know we are rooting for you It is unfortunate that we need a social media following to get any kind of customer service ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ oh an lots of treatos and ball throws for Rose. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

  3. I think it's about time boat builders around the world came under the same governing bodies as plane and vehicle manufacturing .Whats been happening in the boating world for decades is basically getting away with billions of dollars of dodgy boat manufacturing and have had no one to answer to except them selves .customers need to be able to buy a boat with out going broke because of a multinational company refusing or making a new owner bleed money because of thier bad business behaviour. If this boat was a car purchase it would of been bought back or replaced .more pressure has to be placed on these manufacturers to stop thier shocking behaviour.

  5. You guys embody the context of my boats name and why I choose it, “Integrity”. Thanks for being brave enough to do what’s right in the face of no agreement for the benefit of those who follow 😌. Let’s work together on changing the conversation that boats break because they’re boats. I believe that a quality, reliable and dependable boat lies in our future if we all strive for it 🎉!

  6. RESPECT TO BOTH OF YOU. To stay so calm shows a lot professionalism from both of your side! I hope you both have the strength to stay strong and keep us updated. Good luck and we all hope for the best outcome for you. ❤

  7. I am glad your finally getting the assistance. And I can get a company not wanting a repair procedure being published for a number of reasons. All the same it seems unfathomable that one can regularly find videos stating that a new boat is NOT a means of avoiding troubles of a used boat. And the draconian contracts foisted to get warranty repairs done. I think NDAs should be limited to not publishing detailed steps to repair and protecting legitimate trade secrets.

  8. thank you!

Your tenacity in remaining open and forthcoming in your battles, I hope, will put more builders on notice to verify their build processes and customer interfaces to make sure that future customers will not have to go through the same issues.

Please keep up the good fight.

  9. I had wanted a leopard 50 cat but after hearing of all the poor quality boats they turn out i dont think i could ever feel safe and comfortable on one now…. shocking for a million pound purchase… i think the boat should be rejected and a full refund issued plus compensation for all the problems.

  10. It's sad that you are going through this heartbreaking situation. I really hope you can get all the problems fixed. I have heard about others that are Neel and other brands that are going through un heard of problems with no resolution in site. With the so many people wanting boats you would think that they would want to protect themselves and their customers. Word of mouth spreads like wildfire specially bad experience's. Some people are changing their brands when they are ready to replace there boat. That says a lot.

  11. Well done guys, my heart goes out to you. Clearly these companies can't be trusted with our money or dreams. Social media is the last bastion of the individual to get service and sometimes justice. I hope your stand will give others the confidence to challenge these bullies and their criminal incompetence. Do Leopard deserve any praise for coming fighting to the negotiation table? the answer will be known if they are still in business in five years time.

  12. People buying sailing Yachts are often misguided into believing their boat is capable of world cruising. Yacht companies sell them these boats knowing that 99.9% of them will be used like charter Yachts, which is their intended purpose. Sure they can cross oceans, so have people on standup paddle boards, and jet skis!!!! When you have the option to sail the Caribbean, why would you want to take on an ocean crossing that presents so many possible dangers, and endless boredom until you spot land? Good luck and stay safe.
