Asteroid heist begins but fighting cuts burn short of mars but long of earth so it flies off into deep space unrecoverable. Scientists discover it will hit the planet after another orbit so a later season will include a deflection to prevent collision. Another heist is cooked up to capture instead of deflect.

Still not sure whether Ed's cockiness is gonna get Danielle killed though.
My bets:
– The asteroid will get captured by Mars.
– The season will end with that girl finding life on Mars.
Petro states being made relatively unimportant economically before they could diversify their economy would mean disaster for the Middle East. There could be a nuclear war on the horizon there as extremists seize power as the modern standard of living dries up with the oil revenues. Earth being contaminated by nuclear war would suddenly make Mars a lot more attractive and cause an immigration boom on the Red Planet.
Otherwise, the asteroid could accidentally careen into Earth, or it could stay in Martian orbit and be the thing that gives rise to an Earth vs. Mars conflict that'll characterize future seasons.
Not really sure how the group will get billions of dollars for forcing the asteroid into a Mars orbit. They will still need the thousands of ships to actually mine the asteroid and I can see how Dev might make money from that, but I imagine the rest of the crew will be arrested.
I think the crisis will be that they end up sending Goldilocks on a collision course with earth and Ed sacrifices himself to stop it. Or maybe Mars Happy Valley base and he sacrifices himself to save his daughter and grandson.
Mars engineers are striking? Sabotaging officers in the habitat? All this for a pay raise? hahahahaaha. This shit is so fake and stupid. This would never happen in the real world. Hilarious
They couldn’t have hired a kid to look Waysian? It’s hard to believe Kelly’s child’s father is Alexi, a Caucasian. For a show that obviously has gone (maybe too far) out of its way to represent POC, this one child, as adorable as he is, is clearly not half/half. I know it sounds really picky but it really throws me off.
Al Gore gonna pretend he never discovered that asteroid if Ed and Dev get there first.
Also to mention, the show already confirmed that DART happened in the 90's during this timeline, already alluding that NASA has already done studies and experiments into asteroid redirecting/defense. It was only brought up during the aleida/margo telepathic scene to show them thinking in parallel, but could also be called upon later if the Asteroid hitting Earth scenario happens
Ed’s a rascal, so Ed and Alex bonding doing rascal shit makes perfect sense.
I’m enjoying the flow this season because I can actually handle waiting a week between episodes. And I mean that as a compliment! There isn’t some “will they live or die” cliffhanger every other week that makes waiting a torture. Rather it’s a big grand plot with a lot of open points right now that gives me stuff to actually use that time to think. Love it!
My best guess for a season ending clifehllfhanger is the heist burn malfunctions and sends goldilocks on a "direct hit" trajectory towards Earth.
The elephant in the room here is China's space program, as yet completely ignored.
This asteroid could give rise to the Belters as seen in the Expanse. I expect this is Margo and Ed's last season. Major characters have been killed off in the last episode of each season thus far. Kudos, an absolutely brilliant TV show.
I look forward to the next 4 seasons as we go past our own timeline and towards, Ganymede, Io and Europa.
I wonder if Ed & Dev play a sea shanty across all comms during their heist. They owe Danni one.

I really like that the book Ed is reading from are the first chapter of "The Sand Pepples" by Richard McKenna. It was later made into a movie starring Steve McQueen.
is highly likely they steal the asteroid with success but the math wasnt very good so they end up overshooting and send up the asteroid directly into mars, maybe even killing the team searching for life
Fun fact: Kelly travelled 12,750 km round trip and also worked for a bit all over 3 days . Assuming a 12hr trip each way, they would have travelled at 531.25km per hour. Plus or minus depending on time travelled. I thought they drove (impossible) until i saw the capsule in the background.
