You can quickly fire large missile salvos from ships but they have to be in a formation first. This works with other weapons as well.
Remember to press Shift when right clicking and opening the order panel. After that you can release shift as long as the order panel is open.
My missiles waypoint was way to close to the ships which is why the cross over at the end of the video.

Actually each queued missile will fire 1 missile per launcher group not per ship. 2 CL with 5 ungrouped MLS2 each, given an order for 4 missiles, will shoot 4×10=40 missiles not 8.
How can you queue more than one missile? I always have to return to the right click menu when I fire one.
