Ep5 Dealing with the outside world : Oxygen not included

We need more dupes, lots of dupes. I am missing the huge amounts of labour we normally have by this point. But we can fix that, …

  1. I figured out an easy way to remove the germs from my water supply. I remembered that FJ said radiation kills germs so I put in a wheezewort spike into my water tank and irradiated them all to oblivion.

  2. I would like to ask about if you're interested in doing a follow up tutorial to the mid-game hump, like transitioning into the late game area. I have over 500 cycles now, and I'm constantly producing Plastic and Steel. I also have sustainable water sources in the form of cool steam vents, as well as oil (leaky oil fissure), iron and copper volcano. I barely tapped in to magma at this stage of the game, so a bit of advice might help 🙂

  3. I like the mod that makes the textures more varied, but I understand why it could be confusing as well. Especially for those of us who don't actually play ONO… 😀

  4. FJ, the cycle sensor/timer issue is that cycle sensors are limited to 600 seconds, while timers can be set to over 600 seconds. Your timer needs 600 seconds of down time for the "lullabyed" buff to run out, then however many seconds you think for a dupe to get there and hug it again. So, 600 off, 40-60 on. Also, the tile mod looks nice.

  5. The introduction of "True Tiles" mod made me go and check most popular mods for ONI, which i haven't done in a while.
Have you heard of "Violent Volcanoes"? Basically they now erupt like actual volcanoes, preventing conventional tamers and posing an additional challenge to the map.
There's also now a "Athletic Manual Generator", which makes it so dupe's Athletics skill affect how much electricity they produce while running on manual generators. Seems very neat and logical.
But the one that really caught my attention is "Darkness Not Excluded", which introduces the necessity to actually light your surroundings to see what's going on, much like "Lights Out!" mod did in the past, but with added nuances. Seems to me like an interesting spin on game mechanics that can make for a cool playthrough.

  6. Fair warning, you can't infinitely starvation ranch the shove voles anymore. They have a britter morph with a base 2% egg rate, and that morph doesn't have enough starting calories to lay an egg. It's a very slow decline, but still needs a little minding.

  7. Since you are already using hydra, another minor exploit shouldn't be much. Exosuit checkpoint checks from its bottom most tile for docks. So the bottom of the checkpoint can connect with the top of a row of docks. Should save 30 tiles of travel

  8. Just to say the True Tiles mod is fab (DGSM essential for me too!) !
I'd love to see you play with some other mods too… like the insulated door, the extra critter morphs (diamond and floral hatches, smog slugs etc), fervine (light plant), and there's a new darkness mod that makes exploring the map a lot more…. fun. All the best, and …. good luck! 🙂

  9. The mod seems kind of good at first but it kinda force you to use the same material for some "segment" of your base or else it looks bad. I stopped using it for that. And for us viewers it is more complicated to understand if a tile is a regular or a insulated tile.

  10. I don't like the cosmetic mod, I tend to treat the videos more like a podcast and glance at the screen every so often. Until you learn the mod it's hard to tell what you are looking at. If the material matters for the build you tend to say what it's made out of.

  11. I like the mod with the tiles. Please keep!

Also; just watching but shove vole eggs are amazing for free meat! You can create a tall room with an island, and let shove voles live on the island. Auto diggers on the top/bottom to feed them, auto sweepers on the top and bottom to pick up the eggs, both on the floating platform and below. As long as the eggs hatch on the platform; they will never leave! And you can reach the platform using ladders.

  12. Keep the mod. It definitely adds to the charm of the base and for some of us who have thousands of hours played and hundreds of hours watched of ONI, it's a nice change. Besides, it's a casual play trough.

3:41 They are actually singing a lullaby to the egg, so the criter inside probably hears them.
