Don't use these small containers for transplants. Go look in the trash bin of any restaurant that fries food. You'll find 5 gallon containers that their cooking oil comes in. The plants have much more room to grow in.
Been doing something similar for the last 5 years. I cut them not quite in half, fill with dirt, seeds, tape them up, and they are “cloches” that sprout seeds. Works like a charm.
Do you keep the cap? I'm a beginning gardner primarily for self consumption. Learning about fall and spring produce. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

TILL THE FIRST WIND COMES…🌪
Nice
What about the wind if you live in a windy area?
Once it’s in the garden, how do you keep the plastic container from blowing over in the wind or breeze?
Great idea !!
Blessed advice ❤❤ THANKS
The wind would blow mine away
Soooo… how do you keep it from blowing over by the wind?
I love the idea, but where I am this lovely container will be blown away after one blink 😂
Good idea But: What will you do when your garden is full of plastic geenhouses?
👏👏👏Great idea! I am teaching my 8 yr. old grandson how to nurture seeds!
Great tip and cost effective ❤❤❤Thanks

Do you put the lid on or keep it off?
Would this work with little tomato plants?
Great idea!!!
Beautiful idea
That's an awesome idea. Thank you for sharing that.
Don't use the clear ones. IT WILL BURN THE SEEDLINGS IF IT'S TOO HOT!
Thanx for the tip!!
I agree. I also use the bottoms to put over tiki lights when it rains. The caps always break off shortly after you purchase them!
Great idea
Love that ❤❤❤
I do the same thing. I had to cause the birds were devouring my lettuce.😊 great tip
that's really cool but I want to be able to see what's under it! lol
Great advice! 🌱
Tip** cut bottom off first then clean it. Easier. 😊
But you won't be happy after the first gust of wind hits them 🤔😱 …Remember to stake them into the ground folks 👀👍🌱 happy growing everyone 🌱🌍
Great tip
Excellent ❤️ I've been using those 2liter soda bottles and it really works ❤
In Victoria BC Canada 🇨🇦. We can recycle our milk jugs for $$$$
