Nice tribute. But nothing about his winning and oscar or his glorious singing voice.
I had the distinct pleasure of having lunch with Don Ameche in 1983 when he and I were working on a movie which, sadly, wasn’t finished. It seemed nobody else among the young crew quite realized who he was. I walked up to the table with my tray and asked if I might sit down. He graciously said yes and regaled me with some old Hollywood stories.
