  1. Honestly, the only movie from Ghibli that I like is When Marnie Was There (adapted from the novel of the same name). Since the original novel takes place in the UK, they obviously had to change the names, but otherwise, the movie is pretty faithful to the book.

  2. My personal favourite is Whisper of the Heart. I love it’s message of inspiration, passion and determination. It shows that putting your heart into something that you want to aspire to be while a good thing, you have to learn more from it in order to expand your horizons. If you do these things right, it can lead to great things you may not have expected.

  3. Despite only seeing most of the films for the first time after signing up for HBO Max, I wasn’t able to spot most of these references. The one I was able to immediately spot however was the theme of Princess Mononoke, which is my all time favorite Ghibli film, and not just because many elements from the film have gone on to inspire the earliest character design of Star Wars character Ahsoka Tano and the mythical Loth-wolves from the final season of Star Wars Rebels (2015-2018). As a nature lover myself, Princess Mononoke spoke to me on a very personal level and I believe it’s every person’s right to learn how to live in peace with the environment and the millions of animals that share the world with us.

  4. the four movies I haven't seen those on this list are, When The wind rises, when Marnie was there, My neighbor Totoro(I still might try and watch this, this one actually looks good to me and I actually want to watch it) and grave of the fireflies

  5. I’m still pissed off Mojo is still using the Fox English dub of Totoro when it comes to their Ghibli videos, they using the version that has older voice actresses voicing the sisters and they sound more like Rugrats characters than real little girls. That’s why I prefer the Disney dub English version over that version, they actually had real sisters which was the Fanning sisters (when they were still little girls at that time) voicing the sisters which made it more realistic and believable. Please mojo stop using the fox version and use the Disney dub instead in your future Ghibli and anime themed videos!

  6. I love Howl’s Moving Castle so much. I had never heard of Studio Ghibli Movies until my daughter had me watch it. I followed with Kiki’s Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke. I still have more on my watch list now. Hope they stay on HBO Max for awhile.

  7. Spirited away and Kiki's delivery service are my favorites because they both show how how scary and hard growing up can be but also how both characters don't have bravery because of lack of fear but do things in spite of it.
