  1. I’m The same with automation games.
Satisfactory gets a pass because of the FPS and traversal requirements but the rest I need an active antagonistic force or I rapidly loose interest. It’s why I still haven’t dived into factorio because the bugs seem rather passive on the map in the demo.

  2. Something like the storage and supply management from Good Company would be really nice in this, so even if they don't automatically build intermediate components, you can still set up the logistics instead of building things manually.

  3. I feel like they are trying so hard not to be Factorio with the clunky system of tranferring materials via army of drones running into each other, that they hurt themselves with the game mechanics. Perhaps down the line you get some sort of transferring system, be it conveyor belts or cranes or something to replace this initial logisitical mess, but if not I cannot imagine scaling the base up like this.
Also what you built in the crystal field is a power generator not miner so don't expect it will do anything until you supply it with crystals. The mining laser says it's used to mine metal and crystal. So probably a good idea to buld 2xS platoform and mount the generator and the laser on it, hopfully they share the inventory.

  4. I think of this game as Autonauts without all the obnoxious cutesie wutesie crap, meets factory building games. I see the buildings as the uplink center from Tiberian Sun, I would hazard a guess that at least one developer of this game messed around with SunEdit 2k back in the day.

  5. The hat system is kind of a neat idea. That way when you inevitably have to expand outward, you can just forward build your infrastructure, move your defenses on over to the outer ring and re-purpose the space they vacated while losing nothing in the teardown/rebuild phase.
Also I like the idea of using drones to ferry resources instead of having to build conveyor belts everywhere. Drones > Belts any day!

  6. I'm not usually keen on these auto production type games, but this one seems kind of neat. Why is it called Desynced, though? I feel like it should have a name relating to hats somehow. Or bugs.

  7. Signal must be similar to Surviving Mars. You can totally get one unit manually and lead it to anywhere on the map but the automation must be happening only inside signal range. That's my two cents though.

  8. As a games developer, here are my thoughts.

Desynced lacks tension. Tension is the curve towards the failure function (losing condition). Losing condition here being loss of the base. Desynced has forward impetus (building base, researching, collecting resources), but doesn't have an antagonist in the early game to challenge the player and create tension, creating pushing impetus. I suggest adding a basic attack to the drones (like the zap from Starcraft drones) and having early waves of bugs. So in the first minute you can have a single bug scout attack, and use the drones to take it out. This would then grow in attack waves, pushing the player to build and creating tension.

UI is okay, basic gameplay loop works (but missing combat) and aesthetic is kind of meh (personal opinion). Has potential at this stage.

  9. Fwiw: The devs are very happy with the feedback and reception for the demo, so they are planning to go into Early Access sooner than originally planned.

Caveat with the Logistics network: they need to be powered, otherwise they won't be taking or giving orders from the network's channels (as of the latest update).

  10. It took me like less then 10 minutes to get attacked by a bug, I'm not sure if I just ran away quick enough, but those birds seem to be the source of the bugs or some of them. I first got attacked a few times by a bug that looked like it had legs and chased after me, those I could kill early on easily with a laser on a vehicle. Bug two then showed up and it was like a slug and it was much harder, I built the mech II (Hound) I think and I managed to kill it with the small weapon but the hound was badly wounded, now I was looking to get the repair base built. Maybe the bot repair would be good if I could put it in an I slot. Now I built a bunch like 5 or 6 power extenders to mine crystals, but how do I get the miner to unload? I put a storage beside it to hold just crystals but he mines one patch, 20 crystals and then takes a nap πŸ™

  11. Games like Factorio become a job, it seems this game has solved that problem by doing away with the logistics and automating that away and making production easier to do

  12. I have a feeling that crystal power generator doesnt work like splat think. I assume you need to mine crystals with mining turrets/drones and if you are short on power that gets feed crystals to produce power. Basically coal generator just burning crystals instead of coal.

  13. sigh That Crystal generator eats crystal you have to generate power, it doesn't mine crystal. You can do that with a regular mining laser, it was right there when you were setting up the mining building.

  14. @splattercatgaming,
Hey can you do a review on a one man dev game called Dead Monarchy? It's a soon to be released mercenary adventure game on Steam. The dev has been working on this game for 6 yrs. I'm a early supporter & would like to see his game get more exposure…Thanks!

  15. Would be nice if you could put in the description of the video, what kind of content there is in the demo, as in how long it lasts. πŸ™‚ Not necessarily what's available in it, but like is it a 20 minutes blocked demo, or is it chapter 1 stuff. This kind of things. πŸ™‚ Thanks a lot for your service by the way, though my wallet hates you. πŸ˜€
