Panhandling, or soliciting money or goods in public, is a controversial issue in many cities and towns. While some people view panhandling as a legitimate form of begging or a way to survive for those who are homeless or struggling financially, others view it as a nuisance or even a crime.

Unfortunately, people who engage in panhandling may sometimes find themselves being unlawfully arrested. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as if the person is not actually breaking any laws or if they are being targeted because of their appearance or perceived status.

One way that people can be unlawfully arrested for panhandling is if the laws in their jurisdiction are too vague or overly broad. For example, some cities have laws that prohibit “aggressive” panhandling, but do not define what this means. As a result, people may be arrested simply for asking for money or goods in a way that someone else finds rude or annoying, even if they are not actually threatening or intimidating anyone.

Another way that people can be unlawfully arrested for panhandling is if they are targeted because of their appearance or perceived status. For example, people who are homeless or struggling financially may be more likely to be arrested for panhandling than those who are better off, even if they are engaging in the same behavior. This can be a form of discrimination and can lead to people being unfairly targeted and punished.

It may also be possible to challenge the constitutionality of the laws that led to your arrest, as many courts have found them to violate your 1st amendment rights.

Overall, being unlawfully arrested for panhandling can be a frustrating and stressful experience. It is important to remember that you have rights and to seek legal help if you believe that you have been wrongly accused or unfairly treated.

  1. This cop should have his license or whatever they have to certify that their train police officers revoked he should be barred from serving as a police officer in the future, and he should face criminal charges for cruel, menacing as he was threatening this man with unlawful acts, including the use of violence he should be charged with battery because he placed hands on the man and he should be charged with civil rights violations

  2. Just 3 days… I bet that bastard got to pick which 3 days also…! Should have been bumped down in pay and rank. That other tyrant at the end… not sure what he did… but probably just sat and watched his Lt fuck over Jeff's rights.
WHY didn't Jeff continue what he was doing? Free to go = Free to stay. He challenged the Lt to tread lightly but then folded like laundry after the cuffs were off. Better be a lawsuit pending!

  3. Also, what kind of lazy police "investigation" involves only listening to the accusation of a witness or witnesses (which, as in this case, may prove to be entirely false), but, failing to ask the accused party for his/her version of events? Don't they teach cops in training at the academy to question all participants, to get their version of the story and the full picture? Believing accusations without asking the accused for his/her version is a totalitarian police state tactic.

  4. This shit should terrify and infuriate every person living in this country. How can anyone oppose the need for massive law enforcement reform (i.e. defunding the police)?

  5. Your goal is to 'expose corrupt and ignorant cops', like "lance corporal" Furr-ball. The fact that he got a slap on the wrist 3 day suspension is LAUGHABLE and just more proof that the cops have no real interest to hold their own accountable.

Like the cops' bossed, the politicians, they don't care about us.

  6. Unfortunately the residents pay the tab. Qualified immunity gets dissolved watch the police drop like flies. It's both impractical to give one any authority over another and expect positive results. Way to many laws on the books to even comprehend how to uphold them. This is completely redundant. We're 240 plus years from our founding. Js Wyatt Earp did a better job upholding the law then these clowns…

  7. So I love watching Jeff Gray I believe he's a truck driver over Road by profession. I'm curious does he do this on his time off you know from Trucking? You know you can only drive so long and then you have to take a break. He gets around he's obviously been in several States making videos. So it makes me wonder if he is doing this in his off time while cross-country driving a freight truck full of product. When he gets falsely arrested and is held for a day or two or however long do they take that into consideration like the loss of Commerce given that he's delivering Commerce? From what I've seen he almost always gets out of it but what about the consumer or the customer that was waiting for Freight that got held up a day or two because he got falsely arrested? Do they take that in consideration when it goes through the courts? Like what if he had a load of produce and got locked up for long enough to affect the cargo ie spoilage? Would they be responsible for that loss, since it was a false arrest?

  8. 17 years of experience and this is how he acts. Wonder how many lives this officer has ruined for no reason because he quote "didn't like the way they were acting". The disgusting cherry on top is of course the officer only got suspended for a measly 3 days. We the people have to stop letting police and our judicial servants get away with everything they do and start demanding action. They should be held to the exact same laws and consequences as the very people they take action against and if found having zero justification fpr their actions get charged for any crime they committed durring the interaction. Like assault and battery if they grab and put you in cuffs or malicious mischief if they demand you leave town even after coming to the conclusion the person they're interacting with committed no crimes. Qualified immunity and internal affairs investigations need to be abolished, they're old fashioned corrupt laws to protect cops from decades ago before everyone had the ability to record their interaction. There is zero reason why an officer caught on tape breaking the law and violating someone's rights should be protected by qualified immunity and internal affairs when there is clear cut 100% proof the officer broke the law. It's bullshet and needs to come to an end. If qualified immunity and internal affairs were abolished and IA was replaced with a 3rd party community operated board of citizens with zero ties or affiliation with police or judicial operations who are qualified and licensed to practice constitutional, federal and state law to decide which actions and consequences are fair the same way every single citizen who breaks the same laws the police break are forced to be accountable for I guarantee things would change overnight. For all the police who would claim they would quit or go on strike if these actions were taken they should be told to go ahead and do what they see fit but regardless things are changing. They shouldn't be catered too like royalty by the people anymore and need to be reminded that at the end of the day no matter what they believe or were told the people have the complete authority and choice to decide how they need to serve us.

  9. 3 Days suspension ?? this is comical, the LT should have been demoted, he should know better, disgraceful actions by the LT and the workers of the ALPHARETTA Police Dpt. so they can break the law, and no disciplinary action taen apart from 3 days suspension, the LAW IS LAUGHABLE. No wonder the department is so corrupt.

  10. When the mayor says jump, the cop asks "how high ?"
When happens to the 2 council employees that made a false report that he asked for money ?
It was this false testimony that led the cop to make a mistake – and is panhandling even an ARRESTABLE misdemeanor?

  11. WHY was he released after they stole his ID if he was so guilty of something?

ANSWER – They hoped to find he had a warrant out, as they were never gonna proceed on just a panhandling charge.
