✨ about my channel
I will be sharing the ups and downs of life and how to attempt to get through it in one piece. I’ll be sharing realistic life advice, minimalism tips, routines, vlogs, and anything else I think you would benefit from! Life is messy and unpredictable, and learning how to manage these hurdles is the first step to leading a happier and more intentional life. We’re all trying our best out here, and I just want to share what is and isn’t working for me.

Sending you all my love,
Grace

  1. I'm so jealous that you have the possibility in the future to live out your dream ♥️ I have almost the exact same dream and even though I've never been to nz, as a Finn I already know I would absolutely love it there. Taking care of any sized farm or homestead is not for one person though and since I have no one in my life to do it with me it can just be a dream. However I truly hope you continue your youtube journey until then and beyond bc I would absolutely love watching your life there and how you get by and settled etc. All the love and luck 🫶

  2. Poor Flip! My dog used to have a very similar diet because he had terrible allergies and it really helped. If you don’t always have time to make it at home, you could buy frozen pre-portioned bags from a local pet butcher

  3. My recent low buy story.
I've known I'm going to be a bridesmaid in June ( yay!) and that I would need shoes for that, I had no others and i hate shoe shopping. So there's particularly shoes where on my yellow list ( but no others ) I could by one pair of white sandals that I was able to re wear all summer, sorted.
And there was this pair that were £150 (!) But they convert to flat, they would solve the problem, i could stop shopping for shoes, blah blah blah and anyway I put my phone down and 2 days later I found a normal pair of sandals for £18!🎉 ( they don't convert but they are low enough you know) It reminded me of the $27 story – sometimes you've just got to sit on something that little bit longer. And I was reminded of how annoying and long shopping is, not the buying but the decision and thinking 😅 I spent about a week thinking about these shoes! Madness 😂

Also I would love a live chit- chat ❤

  4. Owning a homestead and being able to do most of the building, carpentry and fixing yourselves, is litteral gold. I am 37 yo and lives alone on the swedish countryside in a little cottage and is growing my own food. The amount of money you save by doing things yourself (when done well, if you don’t is just gonna cost you down the line😅) is crazy. Your homestead plans sounds like a dream worth working hard towards. NZ is the most beautiful country!

  5. we'd love a live chat with you!! I'd love to hear about your plan for your farm once you get to your homestead. I'm an ~amateur~ gardener planning for my second vegetable garden this spring and I LOVE the idea of growing most of my own food. It's been a major learning curve for me in terms of setup & layout, when/where to plant specific plants, how much sun & water etc etc. It's an exciting challenge though and I'm curious how you're preparing yourself for that part of your new journey!

  6. Loved this video! And your Homestead story was so sweet! I look forward to seeing your journey over the years and making your dream come true. Loved hearing more about your job, a day or a week in the life and a swing would be so cool too see too. So glad I found your channel randomly, because the no buy/low buy year is helping me so much so far. I definitely medicate with shopping and buying things that I think will fix my life. But now I get a dopamine hit when I update my budget spreadsheet (so geeky i know, but I kinda love it) and get to put money towards paying off my debts. And if I stick to my plan, I will be debt free by October and then will be able to save for my future too. 💜

  7. I'm struggling with my no-buy. Part of it is I need to specify my why. Most of it is I am severely dopamine deprived in a postpartum survival mode year with 2 kids that need me 24/7. And sleep deprivation. This is hard.

  8. I've found that I almost always just want to do something fun when I get the urge to buy something. My partner and I tried archery this weekend and it cured my urges to buy anything that had been cropping up that week, and it only cost 25 bucks for the two of us.

  9. On the scarcity mind set…I think if we shift from thinking "we can't have this or do that or buy something we think we must have…" to thinking "I'm in a good head space and am so happy I "get" to work on spending my money wisely and saving for things that I really want and that are more important than buying stuff for instant gratification" that we might think less about scarcity. Your New Zealand plan sounds so amazing. Go you!!

  10. So cool that you have New Zealand citizenship! It’s on my bucket list of places to go. My husband’s grandparents live in Ireland (we live in the US) and his dad grew up there so my husband can pretty easily get citizenship. We have a 9 month old daughter now so she can get citizenship too. I’m the only one who needs a visa :p. My husband is in nursing school now but I have dreams of living in Ireland someday. I feel so fortunate to have been able to go visit a few times already!

  11. I love that you addressed this "I don't deserve" mindset that can be attached to no buy. I am approaching it as a rewarding myself with less overhead. Less to have to clean, to put away, to overall manage. After having to clean out my moms house when she passed and my grandmother's house when she moved-then her apartment when she passed, the stuff can just be so overwhelming. I had some initial withdrawal from shopping, but I am finding I less stress about managing the mess of stuff (I still have so much stuff, but I am not actively adding to it). I am also saving for a trip so being able to travel will be my reward.

  13. I’m a sahm with adhd, and it is quite the struggle to mine dopamine from my daily life, cutting out shopping, tv, caffeine, phone, snacks. Trying to replace those things with connection to my kids and learning to find dopamine in little things. Sometimes I’m so directionless though.

  14. I think about one of your past videos when you announced your new era on YouTube and shifted away from purely posting about minimalism, and I say I am subscribed to Grace Nevitt and all the content she posts! you are such an interesting person to watch and learn your takes on different topics. I loved hearing everything from your job to your future plans in New Zealand (idk why but Farmer Grace is so cute to me hahaha) 💕

  15. I understand where the punishment mindset comes from. And its probably worse for those with ADHD or people with excessive spending habits. I like to think that I am actually HELPING myself, because even though the initial high from buying something is nice, it fades off soon and I end up losing money and having more physical and mental clutter. Hence, I try to avoid impulse spending. I hope this mindset helps you through the rest of your year. ❤ Feel free to share it on a vlog because, judging from the comments, I think a lot of people had the punishment mindset, and I don't think many will see this comment! ❤

  16. Grace. My darling. I can start a drinking game with you saying "To be completely honest". I'm saying this with love. I don't think you know you have this verbal habit. (I say the same thing in my native language and it's driving me nuts when I realize it. Like what? The rest of the time I'm not honest or what?? It's actually a way to emphasize what you're about to say, I know, but I think we can do without it! 🙂 ) I enjoy your content a lot and I can't wait for NZ

  17. I think movement brings a lot of Dopamine. Go for a walk, Do a Yoga Session with Youtube or another workout, pilates for example, is a very good way to gain dopamine. Only 10 minutes can help.

  18. I set up my guidelines at the beginning of the year. Then this month I was offered a new job at a new company. Not something I was planning for. Which due to a different dress code I actually had to buy a new work wardrobe. Thanks to your videos I wasn't stressing about it. Instead I did some research into what my work uniform should be so that I was still comfortable. Then I went through my closet and pulled any piece that would work and made a small list of items I still needed. I ended up getting 5 new blouses and 1 dress that will work for all 4 seasons using other pieces I own. Before I would have felt the need to buy everything brand new and end up wasting hundreds of dollars. I just kept focusing on my why while I was shopping and it really helped. Plus I saw something else I really liked and I wasn't going to buy it but I went shopping with my Mom and she got it for me as a gift for getting a new job. (It was a pair of lounge shorts. lol)

  19. I saved this video for chores time 😂 the New Zealand homestead sounds like a dream. I have chickens (they're little jerky dinosaurs) and an acre and a half of land with a nice sized garden but not much discretionary time to do much with it yet after working a full time job + commute. I'm doing the low buy to get some money saved up to ditch the commute!

  21. The way I’m getting my no spend to work is when I see something I won’t. I go and take that money and put it directly on the credit card. I am trying to pay off that way I feel I spent money on something I needed to spend it on. And now as of today, I have paid off my credit card and put it away. Do you have no spend for a year. Put that money you want to spend on a bill credit card loan whatever you need to be paying off instead of buying something you’re buying something you’re way out of debt.
