  1. 18:44 this……this is upsetting. I knew at some level that many people were uninformed about this type of thing- but how do only ten percent of us know these? Aren’t those questions literally just asking you to critically think? Public=publicly funded, spokesperson=public relations and press releases, Facebook and any other social media or web based content=an algorithm is controlling most of it….im smart but im no genius, even the way I’ve formatted this comment shows that but still….10%? Come tf on people, use your brains

  2. I find it ironic that this whole video was about misinformation, and the entirety of the podcast was nothing but.

  3. I mainly care about fake news if it lies about the weather. People have no need to lie about the weather. I believe political animosity is inevitable because people are already basis And look for confirmation basis. But there is no basis about the weather.

  4. So, i do wonder about the harm that the Jill Biden deepfake audio caused.
While i understand this person could have used it to do a lot of damage, he didnt. It was all true.
Joe is one of the only people in the world that could stop the genocide against the Palestinians.
Now, if he inserted lies or misinformation, i could understand the concern. The only lie is that Jill Biden isnt a gonocide apologist.

  5. 9:49 to be fair he aint wrong.. truth always prevails.. The issue is that Humanity may not. just because Truth Is and Exist outside Human control Doesnt mean Human will Grasp Truth or live a life Aligned to what Truth is.

Truth in all that convince.. as in All that is factual that makes Reality what it is.. its not something Human mind Can Handle. this why you dont come across people who are Expert in every single topic there is out there.

Human Perception of truth is limited and so we Create Narratives build on what We perceive to be truth . that the issue we are Facing here.

Who ever control What People Believe to be truth has Power over People. and that means competing structure of power within society are in constant Fighting for Control of the Narrative People Believe in.

there for the issue Falls in People Not Realizing the Narrative they Believe in is not the same as Truth itself and may not even be Align with truth that well.

  6. You who is reading this: Try going off social media. It’s the BEST first step to a better, healthier life in every way. It’s not necessary, it only exists to hold your attention so it can advertise to you. You’ll feel better without it. You’ll have so much more free time without it. Just delete it.

  7. There was no panic after the War Of the Worlds broadcast. People DIDN'T think it was news, they understood perfectly well that it was fiction. The "fact" that there was a panic IS the misinformation. Pretty disappointing to see this video make the exact same mistake, not gonna lie.

  8. “Birth of the Nation” was shown at the WH TO THE US PRESIDENT. So it goes back before 1938.

Also that quiz seems a tad bit unrealistic bc without examples you might not get a single answer “correct” but still be considered media literate. Heck, that first question used two media outlets as an answer to the question. Yes I knew that but not everyone gets that. But the point still stands bc the next two questions depend on your ability to understand a specific terminology that’s beyond the education level of most ppl here in America. .

Finally, nobody takes a quiz and answers it within one second. Give me a full minute per question-as is the standard-and I too would be getting 2/3 questions correct. You give me 1-2 seconds, I’m reduced to guessing….and that is not going to yield the same results. This video have been longer, or the question could’ve provided examples, so ppl could get the answers faster. Either way, that quiz is extremely inaccurate in this particular instance, as I’m positive they weren’t told they had to provide the answers within 2 seconds.

That’s also why media literacy is so hard to nail down bc you could be an extremely educated person and get all those wrong bc the questions aren’t complete or you weren’t given the standard time to answer; at least the way you did it here.

So, while I agree with your premise, your evidence about how the respondents of 18 different countries did is misleading bc THEY weren’t forced to give answers that quickly. Also, which 18 countries? You mention the importance of context then don’t give any.

  9. I was lucky, I married a tech savvy person who grew up with computers & the internet & made a living as a freelance problem solver who wrote code to fix problems in corporate IT business packages. Anytime I have a question about the legitmacy of an email or text, he shows me what to look for. For all those posts & forwarded emails claiming to contain a news article about X, he showed me what to look for (no date or source of news outlet is always a red flag) I took Mass Comm back in HS & we defintely learned how to spot biases in articles as well as how to analyze advertising & the psychology of marketing BUT that was back in the days of print media & network TV. It's much more complex now & with all the AI deep fakes it is scary. All this misinformation & disinformation just makes the voting public distrustful of ALL information & confused, further weakening people's faith in the basic foundational institutions of our society. Media literacy is desperately needed.
