The dryad dogs were the best source of wyrdwood and life elemental drops in the past. They were the best way to level up logging from 100 to 175 as well. Unfortunately they’ve been secretly changed a lot in New World 1.1.2
Also you can harvest all elemental animals now including the deer, wolves, ice wolves, and rock bears. Each one being hard nerfed in the same ways as the wyrdwood dogs.

Salty Crackers over this crap, Arrow prices just sky rocketed on my server. .80 for starmetal. And Eridanus is now a warzone. Never seen so many people fighting over trees. For me Ill be outside winds Chopping trees for the next few weeks. The consistency and sale of green wood now makes it the best method. Maybe you could justify a mote/azoth/wyrdwood loop in reekwater or ebon but Come on. Making the game stupid one patch at a time. im on East coast server and we do a company chest run everynight. 14 ppl had to relog because they couldnt see chest. I dont even know how many times my character has gotten stuck in fallng animation on uneven terrain. Same old same old.
Wood is the last thing I got to lvl to 200 but at 140 now just chilling making timber and selling it for 2 coin a piece.
This is my second comment buy now farming these things are useless. They just nice to look at that's all.

I destroyed mining via boulders and iron ore.
I did 100-175 logging young/mature trees for furnishing.
I do not agree with your premise where people want to TARGET-powerlevel any SINGLE form of gathering or even assume there is a path to do so.
The most optimum method is to level multiple crafts together based on a group(furnishing/logging/engineering), instead of heading to 1 area just to target one craft.
So logging cheese is gone haha

When they expand the game past 200 they need to make sure its all close to correct so the early players dont get such a bonus.

This changes makes crafting even harder and its already hard. Constant grind will cause more ppl to quit gg AGS. Soon 10k ppl playing in total. Sad

I understand the game but other dont seem to, the plan is to force maximum in game time before any real new content . . . Starting with no mounts but long distances and limited insta travel, make everything take longer and longer . . . It sure beats having to bust ass and make more interesting game content, just keep slowing it down and adding more bugs and keep telling the player base your working on improving the players in game experience. And think of all the fun discovering the secret unlisted nerfs while you try not dropping off to sleep between lag spikes. What a game damn right, what a fun game to play, while it's up.

Where exactly are those Starmetal Dogs and how many are there?
I did most of my leveling for logging at Eridanus. The wyrd and ironwood there respawn in like 10-12 minutes and they're clustered.
Oh no! It's not 4 hours anymore to get to max level! Oh the humanity! It shouldn't take 4 hours to begin with.
Wow Logging might be worse to level than fishing atleast at lv 60.
