In the Canadian Military – the Olive drab coloured tape is called "GUN TAPE". Since retiring after 22 years in the RCAF, I still call it Gun Tape……
Brilliant as ever Simon :>
*Duck Tape
My bro used it for patching bullet and shrapnel holes on helicopters in VietNam. It was army green and they called it 100 mile an hour tape.
2 for 1 deal….history of Duct Tape AND Scotch Tape
I used Duct Tape to repair a duct at work the other day, even then I was called a redneck for using it…it worked fine, by the way.
A banana for scale
3M is genius on finding uses for failures. tape won't stick? sell it to painters. Even worse adhesive? Call it a Post-It. Sometimes it backfires: Create a pipe coating for Louisiana pipelines that falls off in a swamp? Sell it to ALYESKA for the pipeline. And when it turns out the hot pipeline essentially sits in a swamp of its own making, plead ignorance.
I'll bet that a few rolls of Duck tape are standard kit on every man-carrying space craft launch now!
Bailing wire next?
I've seen the whole back quarter of a van fixed with baleing wire and duck tape. The guy even spray painted it red to match the Chevy G10 van.
The only thing better than duct tape is gorilla tape. I've attached tarpaulins to wet brick buildings on job sites using it.
Duck, not duct tape!
Hmmm what about that. Im 53 and all my life I thought it was duct tape and that duck tape wass the missheard name. Lol.
In Canada, the man who made duct tape really important is named Red Green who said if the ladies do not find you handsome, they should at least find you handy….
I have allways and will wontinue to just call it McGyver
In Finland we call it Jesus tape. I guess it means: Think again before you are about to nail something.
Duct tape, gaffa tape, cloth tape, 100 mile an hour tape, book tape !! So many names for the same product.
No direct mentions of gaffer tape, just allusions to it…. <sigh>
Pretty sure Mr Smarmy has it from the wrong end of the adhesive spectrum. The "cloth tape" he refers to is not duct tape, it's gaffer tape, used to hold wires and cables, across the floors of TV and film shoos, in place. Duct tape cannot have fabric in it precisely because and elastic or cinching characteristic is required to create a air impervious seal on the duct sections at the sleeve seam, and in addition, and more importantly on the foil backed wool insulation blanket used for thermal efficiency. A fabric tape, just kinks and folds and stretches very little.
600 MPH tape.
Silence is golden, duct tape is silver.
I love your channel but unfortunately I have to unsubscribe. Constant hour-long ads and sponsored videos ads are too annoying.
I wonder.. how many channels do you have…
Very confusing … 😕
.
How do you fix a Semi Truck? Duct tape and zip ties.
They used the stuff to seal my ducts when they built my house. Needless to say, I have been able to reseal my ducts in the basement, but not inside my walls upstairs. We need an international education campaign to teach people not to use the stuff on ductwork.
No true Southerner would ever say, “Duck Tape can’t fix that.” 😳😁
