  1. 05 was definitely not the best Panthers draft. Davis, Mathis and Hangartner are the only players who were ever good and Mathis didn’t even play regularly until he was with the Bengals.
2001 is probably a better choice Dan Morgan, Steve Smith, Kris Jenkins plus a decent role player in special teams ace Jarrod Cooper, who also had a huge sack of Donovan McNabb in the 2003 NFC championship

  2. I love seeing the Thomas Davis love. The general consensus on the Panthers is awesome in the first round, abysmal in the rest of the draft. Mostly this is due to GM Marty Hurney, but if you look at the Panther’s last 10 first round picks, they’ve hit on all but like 2

  3. Shanahan the coach is constantly bailing out Shanahan the GM. Regardless of how his career turns out the process SF used while trading for Lance was dreadful. 3 1st round picks is going rate for a good starting QB, not a mystery box from South Dakota. Can you imagine their roster with 3 additional first round talents?!

  4. Best draft for the Broncos was 2012, hands down, in terms of value to the team (5 huge contributors for the SB50 campaing, plus Omar Bolden who was a very solid ST and depth player for the secondary, out of 7 picks). But I get this exercise is more about the quality of the players troughtout their carreers, so I guess 2006 is more apropriate for this context.
