I use 520 because, in the late game, pierce is more important and lead popping for ddts just for that little extra dps, by the time it is afforded attack speed buffs are already used making the bottom crosspath useless and money is not a large enough issue to skimp on just getting a crosspath
The thing about the energizer is that it needs to go through Submerged Sub and Bloontonium Reactors first, which has their own uses with crosspaths. So a crosspathing it is still a good idea.
I’m pretty sure the bottom path is better in most case cuz the extra attack speed actually means it decamos faster, which might be necessary for certain rounds if you build it first as a decamo
The xx2 is better if that tower will be the one for put away the camo on the bloons, so if you can pop lead, with that one you can kill easily the DDTs… but yeah, for damange is better the x2x upgrade path xD
I generally want my towers on the map to do as much damage as possible because sometimes that little bit of range or attack speed can be the difference between winning and losing. I even throw alchemist buffs on things that barely need it if I have the money just because. Why wouldn't you want your towers to be stronger right?
also, the crosspathing doesnt affect the decamo bc with 4xx and 5xx the bloons are decamoed as soon as they enter the range, and even without x2x they decamo leads
What a weird take. It's one thing to say 'don't get energizer, this alternatives better' it's another to say 'you already have energizer, don't spent <2k crosspathing it because another whole tower could do a better job at this one aspect'.

I'll go 502 sub because 202 sub is just a good source of damage on early game.

That may be true but people normally don’t go for 5xx straight away and usually build it from a 420 or a 402.

they always use the energizer along with heroes with low xp gain like ezili, brickell, and churchill
The base Energizer pops lead by itself!
It's good for cleanup or at the start for decamo and it can decamo late game too so I can't see a problem in giving it a crosspath
