What is the RISKIEST Region in the US as the Climate Changes?

Climate Change is increasing the frequency and severity of natural disasters all around the world. And in the United States, more and more people seem to be moving to the places that are projected to be most impacted by climate change, from hazards such as flooding, wildfire, storms, drought and extreme heat; and leaving the most climate-resilient areas. At first glance, this seems like a bizarre and paradoxical trend. So, for this episode of Weathered, we decided to see if we could get to the bottom of it.

We spoke to experts and sifted through lots of data about moving trends and shifting climate patterns to figure out what’s really going on here and what you can do to avoid moving into harm’s way.

Weathered is a show hosted by weather expert Maiya May and produced by Balance Media that helps explain the most common natural disasters, what causes them, how they’re changing, and what we can do to prepare.

  1. "Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to set fire to you, and it will consume all your trees, both green and dry. The blazing flame will not be quenched, and every face from south to north will be scorched by it."
We cannot see the value nor get a grasp of the promises of God until we surrender our pride to Him. Instead, we take pride in our superior nations, our superior achievements, our superior heroes. We can not enjoy life as it is, we take for granted the nature, so we would rather destroy it for the sake of our comfort. We drive cars to places where we could easily walk, go exercising in gyms when one can do it outside,..drive/fly to the restaurants to eat prepared food and so we spend electricity, gas etc. We destroy the Earth that God created, because of our addiction for extra comfort and entertainment.
Revelation 11:18 “The nations were angry, and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your people who revere your name, both great and small—and for destroying those who destroy the earth.”

  2. I remember when pbs could be counted on for stories based on facts, now they are the purveyors of leftist propaganda. The earth's climate has had extreme heat and cold since the beginning and will continue to do so. Humans must adapt because there are some things they cannot control or impact. There are no human super heroes except in the movies.

  3. At 1:53 your map shows the West Coast of Oregon and Washington are some of the safest counties for climate change. That may be true, but they may not be the safest places to live because of the cascadia subduction zone out in the ocean that could shifted any moment and wipe out those counties. I know this is not climate change but these are NOT SAFE places to live especially if you are living close to the ocean. I think the prediction is in the next 40 some years that the subduction zone will shift and cause massive 9.0 earthquakes and tsunamis.

  4. THAT IS A STUPID LIE THAT PHOENIX HAS HIGH HUMIDITY, IT IS FAMOUS FOR ITS NICE DRY AIR IT CAN BE 100 AND STILL COMFORTABLE, MOST OTHER CITIES ARE MUGGY AND SWEATY WHEN ABOVE 80.ARIZONA IS PROBABLY THE SAFEST STATE OVERALL, ALL YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT, MOST OF THE YEAR IS 3 MONTHS OF HEAT, WITHOUT ANY BLACKOUTS OF POWER TO RUN THE AC SYSTEM.RARE EVENTS IN ARIZONA ARE EARTHQUAKES, FLOODS, HURRICANES, TORNADOS, VOLCANO ERUPTIONS, HEAVY WIND STORMS. HEAVY RAINSORMS, SNOWSTORMS, FREEZING WEATHER, BLIZZARDS, HIGH HUMIDITY, NO FLIES OR MOSQUITOS. ALL OF THESE ARE MUCH MORE COMMON IN MOST, IF NOT ALL, OF THE OTHER 49 STATES.

  5. C Global Warming Will End—God's Way

The Bible tells us that "the Former of the earth and the Maker of it…. did not create it simply for nothing." (Isaiah 45:18) The Bible also says: "The earth endures forever."—Ecclesiastes 1:4, The New English Bible.

Yes, God will not allow the earth to be rendered uninhabitable. Rather, he will intervene in human affairs and bring an end to failed human rule and those who have no regard for the earth. At the same time, he will preserve alive all who lead morally upright lives and sincerely want to please him. Says Proverbs 2:21, 22: "The upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it."

  6. Complete BS! The very first example of areas at risk due to in their words ‘sea level rise’ are coastal properties which, then their example is the effects from hurricanes! The effect A Hurricane that produces a storm surge cannot be quantified using the input from sea level change that happens at a the rate of millimetres per decade. Hurricanes Two hundred years from now when the sea level may have risen 6 inches that hit at low tide, will cause less damage then a hurricane that hits today at high tide. These people are insane with their predictions! Humans cannot predict the future!

  7. I'm not sure where you stand on this, but I feel anyone at this point who still denies Man Made Climate Influence (my personal euphemism) should be grouped with flat earth people and other obvious dimwits. From the smoke in Chicago to the Tornado that tore up the Pfizer building in NC, from the 110 degree streak here in the valley of the Sun to the once in a millennium (and probably happening again in 5-10 years) rains that drenched The Green Mountain State this summer has been a solid left hook from Mother Nature. And that's just in the Continental US! Rhodes Anyone?
Action is required! We must endeavor to vote for the candidates who believe a) Climate Change is Real and b) that policies/ideas to combat climate change should be tackled head-on, not just for ourselves but for the rest of the plants, animals, fungi and non-human humanoids (aliens/bigfoot et al.) who call this planet home. -Djo Life 28'

  8. I'm retired I live in expensive San José CA. I'm contemplating moving to Carlsbad ca. Numerous reasons. Less crime, safer , way less homeless issues, way cooler temperatures #1 reason. I have a heart issue , the cooler Temps have way less stress on the body. Also I can buy a 40 year newer property for half the price per square foot and transfer my property taxes. Water is my biggest concern then fire.

  10. My wife and I moved to Southern NH in the late 1970's. We wanted to be in a rural area but not like the rural west. In the time we have lived here the plant hardness zone has moved north half a zone. So the effects of climate change are already being felt. However on balance the long term trend does not seem as alarming as some other areas.

  11. So instead of moving to a still safe town close by to the expensive city, they choose a climate risk area because it's cheaper – but in a few years time, their house could be either flooded, burned or blown away… yup, that seems sensible!

  14. Liberal cities that are safe havens for people protecting them from climate change, from rampant racism, homophobia and transphobia need to do better and create more affordable housing asap! Let the climate change naysayers who are more likely to also be racist and homo/transphobic stay in the south if they want.
