That is some wild shit! Even with my limited football knowledge – I know about Belichick and that resume (granted I didn't know they made 9 super bowls – that's insane, especially in football!) and the absolute travesty of Washington (they are referenced often in stand up comedy lol). The Angelou quote is amazing btw – this guy must have been a toxic bun station to put it mildly. My one thought is: do you think, aside from his poor behavior, that ageism played a role too?
Hereβs the thing with Bill. He build one of the greatest dynasties in the sport and showed it could be done for long term success. Itβs what teams are going to strive to do since it also seems like KC is on the same route. So Bill as a free agent isnβt going to be tempting since any team that picks him up knows regardless of what happens they may only have a few seasons with him and itβs unlikely heβs going to be able to set a foundation for long term success there. Not to mention heβs a defensive coach so teams that could be interested would also have to be teams that have offense figured out and are just missing defense + coaching. So at the end of the day only a handful of teams would be legit interested and after that his age probably didnβt do him any favors
Where was his greatness in the last 4 years?
Lmao this is stupid as shit. The guy has 6 super bowls and 8 total ringsI donβt think heβd change a single second of any of it. Everyone has a point where they starting playing or coaching like ass it was just his time. Doesnβt take away those Lombardis
Letβs face it. There are a lot of great coaches out there. Some are lucky and get to work with a great QB and together they can wreak havoc.
Bill got lucky. Reid got lucky. So have others.
Bills luck has run out and itβs almost like he learned nothing from the experience .
Downfall?
Bill turned the Falcons down…Blank wanted him bad is the word on the street from esiason.
go look into it.
Kraft is the one that agreed with Bill on Brady….and god knows what he says in owner meetings about that now. THAT is probably hurting him right now.
And it is clear he regrets it..Kraft.
All you are showing is your lack of awareness and perspective.
Superbowls 1-3 dont happen without the D that bill created and game planned.
I watched them all and all the games.
The last Pats / Rams superbowl…….the DEFENSE won that game holding that amazing Offense to what 3 points?
"All that matters is how you make people feel"….no, results matter and that is all in the NFL.
Personally I think it's bullshit the hate he is getting now about how good of a coach he is. Every patriot says otherwise. Situational football he is a top the league etc etc etc. saying someone isn't a great coach because he doesn't have a top tier QB is weird. Just because you have a top QB doesn't mean you make 9 and win 6 Superbowls. Brees has 1. Peyton has 2. Favre 1 Rodgers 1. The point is a QB doesn't win 6 Superbowls alone. A team does.
No surprise that Belichick didn't sign with a new team. It has been reported that he was making $20 million a year with the Pats and had signed a new contract last year. Meaning, if they let him go, they owe him for 2024. And it's highly probable – but not certain – that if he took a new job the Pats money for 2024 would be in jeopardy. This is all speculation of course, but why sign with a new team and lose free money? Take a year off. Think about what you want to do and make a decision in early 2025.
The notion that Belichick was only successful due to Brady is unfair. Belichick made the decision to draft Brady at the #199 spot when no one else wanted him. Belichick cited that Brady knew how to win football games. And that was his qualification, period. Brady started as the 4th string quarterback and the Pats were the only team in the league who carried a 4th string quarterback. All the credit for that goes to Belichick.
He'll be back in 2025 and he'll rebuild a team and make them winners. Super bowl winners? Maybe not, but winners.
I didnt want to admit belichicks downfall until after this year. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe hes just to old. I mean he is in his 70s now.
Belichick is a great defensive coordinator and a below average head coach when anyone but Tom Brady is under center. 84-103 all-time. Thatβs 12 seasons worth of games. Not a small sample size for rendering a verdict.
All your comments are correct as contributing factors, however i believe that the man reason is the cultural around the team ownership in the league has changed. The days of giving a coach full control and say over all football operations is most likely over. To bad because it will become increasingly harder to find real top coaches. Personally for me the overall quality (regarding fundamentals) of the play in the NFL with only a few exceptions has gone down.
Fire Kraft
I have been a Patriots fan since I was born. Bill SUCKS!!! The only thing he ever did that matters is, pick Tom Brady. The Pats could have won many more superbowls if not for Bill screwing it all up.
Bill is toxic. No one wants to play for that sourpuss. He ran Brady off and half the star players.
Bill had plenty of years to change the narrative on him
And didnt. Look at tom
Coghlin
Who cares
I think one of the reasons is because he let tom brady become a free agent and literally walk out the door.
The disrespect BB is getting is crazy asf for a man who waa literally the architect of a 6time Sb winning dynastic franchise simply because peoeple CHOOSE to be stupid and biased, and because a bunch of idiots are over/unnecessarily protective of bradys legacy.
