A Vietnamese real estate tycoon has been sentenced to death in the country’s biggest ever financial fraud case, a shocking development in an intensifying anti-corruption drive in the southeast Asian nation. Truong My Lan, a high-profile businesswoman who chaired a sprawling real estate company, was arrested in 2022. The 67-year-old was accused of fraud amounting to $12.5 billion, nearly 3% of the country’s 2022 GDP. #vietnam #truongmylan #asia #news

  1. She embezzled 27 billion dollars, take a second to contemplate that figure. That's 6% of Vietnam's GDP, imagine how many innocent, hardworking people were robbed by this greedy lady.

  2. Truong My Lan is a descendant of the Chinese immigrants. Chinese immigrants can`t pronounce the /V/ sound as in Vietnam. The so-called Vietnamese Americans or Vietnamese Australians are NOT truly Vietnamese. They are mainly of Chinese ancestry.

There is a saying about the Chinese immigrants in Vietnam “Sống phá rối thị trường, chết chật đường chật sá “, which can be translated as “When alive, (the Chinese immigrants) distort the markets; when dead, (they) disrupt the streets“.
