VICTORY OVER DEATH! Silver Streak's FIRST DRIVE!

Today we celebrate victory over death because HE HAS RISEN! Yessir! while cleaning up the garage and waiting for my wife’s ham and green bean supper to be ready, I felt the need to fully resurrect the 1948 Pontiac Streamliner. So we slapped those dry rotted tires back on and threw it into drive! we made a few yard laps but darn did it feel good!! Happy Easter to y’all and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your support!

  1. The steering used a worm gear which as I remember, made the car extremely hard to turn at rolling speed and virtually impossible if not moving. Is this true for you? Maybe the steering box needed dope.

  2. No park. I’d shut off engine and put in reverse. If on an incline, the transmission band would bind and you couldn’t get it out of reverse. I had to get a friend to push the car in reverse until pressure was off, then could get it to neutral and crank it.

  3. Hope you don’t mind me sharing some memories when I drove this car at age 15 and 16. It’s stuff I hope might help you cope with it. And yea, that was 60 years ago. Loved that car. I thought it was an antique because it was 13 and I was 15.
