All of these, save for the XB-70, were research projects designed to test functionality and operations of technology that would drive future production equipment. Better examples could include the Navy's Littoral Combat Ships (in service for <10 years and being retired due to design flaws), arguably the Zumwalt class destroyer, the Space Shuttle launch facility at Vandenberg AFB, or the supercollider project in Texas that was abandoned. Interesting video, but poorly titled IMO.
Gathering data and valuable information makes conducting tests,experiments and research a national obligation for a world super power that is US 🇺🇸,this task cannot be done otherwise despite the process high cost.thus, this should be the new normal at many levels of productivity should US want to remain an influential WSP.
I watched the Airborne 747 laser take off in what I would call an incredibly short space. It was where the fighters normally take off. A specific hanger marks the place. I also heard a B1B taxi and take off from the same runway. It ROCKED the whole base. People ran out of buildings. People Stopped on the streets. Everyone Knew this was something awesome and the absolute stop of what ever was goin on to see a glimpse of it happened in that moment. It screamed a short track around the base and landed in an awesome display that I watched. It then Taxied and went into the Boeing hangers across from the base. Was the Valkyries engines used? I have no Idea what they used. It was enough that people hardened from a B1B stopped in the middle of the street. Not in their lane mind you. It was enough that just on the Taxi way people were coming out of buildings. A B1B on take off is FREACKING awesome. I Have NO idea What engines they used for that one short flight but it still rock me today. Very Recently the Thunderbirds flew over me in a "High Dynamic Area" It wasn't even close to the B1B and the B1B was extremally louder.
Fighting 8.5% inflation (more like 35%) with a 1% Fed funds interest rate is like stopping a forest fire with a bucket of water. Folks prepare accordingly. Make investment in other not to depend on the government for funds
The YAL-1 airborne laser used a converted 747-400F Freighter, a Air India 747-200 fuselage was only used for test fitting the laser and was later scrapped.
What a waste of my time. After 15mins, I REALISED this is just ANOTHER Patronising, Narcissistic American BS program! And NO you WON'T see me next time.
None of these projects went wrong. Also, this video was so unecessarily long I watched in at 1.5x speed, skipped lots of dead air and still almost fell asleep.
I see that they finally put bypass engines on the B-52. I heard it wasn't feasible because of the wide compressors on bypass engines and the wing droop of the B-52 caused ground clearance issues..

I worked on the ABL program. There wasn't a whole lot of work being done from what I could see.
And sometime in the far future there will be a QF-35 drone for target practice.
The Vandenberg AFB shuttle launch site is one of the biggest failed projects. Engineers made the exhaust ports for lift-off too small.

How much longer are we going to need pilots ? The movie Stealth, I think gives a look into the future of aerial combat.
