Ouch, this one hurt… big respect to Craig for taking it on the chin! Without doom posting I gotta say this is pretty much how casual play has felt for 'nyds since the first data slate + codex dropped πI gave in a while back and started running a biovore and neurolictors to tread water, but you're still screwed bringing our off-meta units unless your opponent agrees to tone down their list
Fingers crossed we see either a couple reworks or some serious point changes in the coming months 'cause it'd be nice to start running fat warrior blobs again… and my other army is ad mech π
Problem of tyranids is currently not to being fun, to feed is to kill mercilessly, without fun or emotion lol kinda like how they feel.
I wished tyrant guard could had been better but as of late the tyranids arenΒ΄t as good (syndrome of 1st book).
Was fun to watch the game however.
I did made an extensive "updates " on how they should had been which i did pointed out to GW in hopefully they might fix something.
I know its not the best, but its for sure one of the funniest detachements. Looking forward to playing it myself in the future.
One thing i m gonna do is, take 2 or 3 Parasite of Mortrexes to hunt down some squishy infantry and break the game by spwing additional Ripper Swarms. ^^ Really surprised i donΒ΄t see anyone using them in Assimilation Swarm.
Question: When it comes to aura abilities, do you measure from any point of the model or the base? I rackon it could be anything, but i like to be sure.
Am I wrong in saying you cant use the 5+ FNP on the guard since they are not harvester units?
I know this was just a friendly game, but if matt is going to pull units around cover to pull you out of combat you should be a little more careful about the order you activate in. If your 2nd haurspex had gotten to attack and you'd remebered you have twin linked on your tyrand guard the bottom board might have come out different

As someone who plays Tyranids and Death Guard, I unfortunately saw this coming π Props to both players for a great game!
Try a full Unending Swarm list, not the good one with Exocrines and Maleceptors and 4-5 swarm units, but a true swarm list with 120 termagants/hormagaunts and either 66 Neurogaunts or gargoyles… only 1 winged tyranid prime as HQ, rest is swarms/battleline. With the stratagem to get back units its like 300 bodies + 80!
Death Guard really do seem to cancel out so many of the great things that Tyranids can bring to the table. Our toughest matchup I think.
Really nice to see assimilation swarm battle reports. Last dataslate kind of forgot about the detachment, but hopefully next one gives a bit of love to the assimilation (phage and swarmy point drop or maybe some aditional unit getting the keyword?)
I think in turn 2 you forgot that the tyrant guard crushing claws are twin-linked.
That said, 2 attacks a piece hitting on 4s with only str 8 ap2 dmg2 is a joke (even with the neurotyrant +1 to hit). I would never run that unit π
Thank you for showing this dettachment but it seems even worse than crusher. At least that one can stat-check some armies with bad shooting.
