What platformer or series should I cover next? I've got a lot in store for 2023, but there's always room to add some more!
I had one of these games as a kid. Don't remember which one, never got very far because I was too young to actually understand what to do, and it's definitely popped back up on my mind from time to time.
id be down for a crash 4 its about time type sequel
I never completed Ty 1 or Ty 2 but Burramudgee Town was one of my favourite places in a video game as a kid. The music and atmosphere is very nostalgic to me. I was actually mind-blown a few years back when I learned that Ty 3 was a thing! I guess trilogies were the style for 2000s platformers like this. To me these are distinctly GameCube Games even if the best versions are the modern console/PC port. They just seem like a perfect fit for that console to me.
13:20 two piece, no biscuit!
Ty 1 was one of the very first games I with my PS2, and the whole series has a very special place in my heart. Ty, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, and Kingdom Hearts defined the PS2 era for me.
Ty would do well if he got a reignited trilogy treatment. Bubsy has gotten 2 new games since they rebooted it let that sink in
Ty 2 was my first ps2 game juming from supermario world on snes. I was amazed by playing in a 3d envirement and ty3 is actually my favorite and trully hope for it to be release on ps4/5 too
God that Ty2 Bush Rescue Sewer Music still slaps
I still have the second game in the series. It's a good one. Something of fun note btw; Ty is voiced by the guy who does the "That's gotta be the best pirate I've ever seen" from Pirates of The Caribbean.
Falterdan regularly interacts over on the Reddit page. Love this series
This is gonna sound a little silly, but I feel like you could show a little kid who LOVES Bluey (an Australian cartoon that has blown up in popularity worldwide in the last couple of years) this game and they'd love it – both Ty and Bluey are unapologetically Australian, and I feel like kids now would appreciate it more than some did 20 years ago.
I remember renting the first game out a ton at my local Blockbuster in its twilight days as a 10-year old what a nostalgia blast
Whats the game at 33 seconds? I feel like a core memory partially unlocked.
ok i had 1 and 2, and played the absoloute life out of them on both gamecube AND ps2, back when i was a kid. but i had no idea there was a third or fourth, and more! imma go do some searchin'
I never beat Ty 1 because I didn't know you had to go underwater for the shark boss so I just sat there confused while he was gnawing on corks or whatever
EA in the beginning was a god send for up in coming studios. They funded a bunch of out there games that flopped and/or became cult classics. They were also happy to hand out their licenses for their big games, like fifa and nfl so that studios can make cool unrealistic games with famous athletes like street football or street soccer
Oh my god, thank you. Someone else who thought of Burramudge Town theme when they hear Better Call Saul! XD Very good video. Ty was one of my favorite games as a kid. I loved seeing all these unique australian animal characters outside the usual suspects like Kangaroos and Koalas. I bought all four games on Steam last year and had a blast reliving my childhood.
Okay you name dropped Jak 2 so much that you HAVE to do a Jak and Daxter retrospective. I think you would change your mind on parts of it!
Laughed out loud at 'bite-speed dash'
Thunder eggs are a real thing!! I only just learned this a couple weeks ago. They are stones that can grow a bunch of crystals inside. I had only ever heard of them while playing this game, so I was really excited to see that they are real gemstones
Man did I want a Windows phone for the two weeks that they were a thing
The Ty series is rather… odd for me. I love it to death and I've beaten all of them, but I remember almost nothing about how I got from the start of the games to the end of them. Though the one thing I do remember is that the Lashrangs were my favorite as a kid. I loved that you could literally bury an enemy with them theoretically infinitely. Also the Doomarangs were super fun to abuse too.
Also the combat of Ty 3 had the best combat, fight me. Beating the shit out of eldritch horrors with boomerangs at close range is way more fun than it has any right to be. Then again, maybe my love of Ty 3 comes from the previously-stated fact that I can't remember the entire midgame of the series.
How the fuck did I not know these got remade I loves these games as a kid
so Ty confirmed for himbo, yeah?
Thank you for covering a very old game series in my childhood, it says a lot when even at 6 to 7 years old I still vividly remember Ty and Sly despite how simple they are and the gameplay loop just being incredibly fun, boomerang combat was such a novelty and even to this day I still remember the messy sfx mix it had.
I spent an actually unholy amount of hours as a child just bearing with my terrible sense of direction (that I didn't know I had at the time) for all 3 games and I still somehow made it to the finish line, and now that I know there's Steam remasters I may get them one day once they're on sale, I want there to be a Ty 5 and see this franchise become something bigger, which is what it honestly deserves.
Ty 3 definitely wasn't great, but I will say the Rang Stones was a cool mechanic that I would love to see again.
Huge supporter of Krome studios. When they were making the remasters on Steam it was great to be able to communicate with them about any bugs and new improvements. The way they handled the PC remasters was why I backed the console kickstarters despite not really playing consoles much anymore. I just wanted to support them, also a bit of patriotism I guess.
40:37–40:42 Wait they went from being partnered with EA to Activision. They went from being partnered with Satan to also Satan.
