  1. I’m a northern but still don’t understand how Sweet Home Alabama is controversial. I find Imagine controversial since it wants the world to all be communist.

  2. The only overrated song of the bunch was "Staying Alive," but that would be true of any song by the Bee Gees. Where do people come up with these stupid headings? Every other song in this list is the best of the best of the 1970s.

  3. Unlike the 60's video, the reasons given here are unconvincing.
Free Bird is grossly over-rated by Americans indoctrinated by 50 years of rock radio. Unknown outside America.
Imagine? We love John Lennon but sorry, it is a boring dirge-like hymn to atheism. Station changer for me.

  4. The long guitar solo in Freebird was to give Ronnie Van Zant a break during live performances. Sweet Home Alabama – Young stated that Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote "Sweet Home Alabama" not in response to "Southern Man", but rather to Young's song "Alabama". Young noted that Lynyrd Skynyrd's implied criticism was deserved because Young's lyrics on "Alabama" were condescending and accusatory.
