Tomb Raider is OFFICIALLY DEAD…

Fans have long warned about these changes, and now, it’s clear they were right. Lara Croft will no longer be a Tomb Raider, a big change from her usual role.

This change is tied to the upcoming game “Shadows Of Truth,” with Crystal Dynamics signaling a new direction for Lara. Recent remasters also show a shift away from the original Tomb Raider vision.

Lara’s character is undergoing a major transformation. She’s no longer just an adventurer but a protector of artifacts, focused on respecting cultures. This change has been hinted at in previous games.

Fans are worried about the future of the franchise. The tabletop game, which reflects these changes, hints at a direction that may not sit well with longtime fans.

The backlash from fans is strong, with many feeling disappointed. The fear is that Tomb Raider is losing what made it special.

As we wait to see what happens next, the future of Tomb Raider is uncertain. Will fans accept these changes, or will the series suffer? Share your thoughts below.

  1. Thus is hilarious story for all the wrong reasons. I'd rather play a Tomb Rauder game where you had to go on an adventure to return all the artifacts you have removed from tombs and set up security measures to prevent other raiders from taking those items than to play this new game.

  2. Eh. Sounds like Crystal Dynamics finally realised what some people have already figured out more than a decade ago: Lara Croft is a villain protagonist.

Think about it: what does she do in these games? She stomps her way into a foreign developing country, smashes up the place, kills a bunch of people and wildlife, then steals their priceless artifacts and treasures only to hoard them away in her giant mansion her rich father left to her.

Maybe CD came to the same realisation, but just used an unnecessarily elaborate wording to describe it, to which I say just simplify your language, be specific and spit it out. "Whoops, turns out our protagonist is evil and completely psychotic all this time. We'll try to make her more conventionally heroic in the next game."

Either way, this is all vague with no specifics at this point, so I'll wait and see.

  3. Look at that cover. They put the big main star Lara Croft in the back while these nobodies who probably resemble the writing staff put themselves in the front so they can get the attention.

  4. In my defense before this mess came out I've been pre-ordered the remaster so but yeah I'm still calling the tomb raider but the games that comes after this I'm not buying it

  5. Sadly how the morons are now remaking Lara Croft but sadly also not unexpected either. Glad I have all the previous Lara Croft Tomb Raider games either on PC or console to play to my hearts content. If this is going to be the future of upcoming games then sadly it's one I'll not be a part of and hopefully developers from outside the western influence don't follow this sad trend. Stellar Blade shows me hope that at least some game developers won't kowtow to the woke.

  6. This is what happens when you hire Soy-boys and DEI hires and they have a conference meeting at the game studio on how to "improve" the franchise. I guess the next pirate game will have the pirates search for their victims and give back their booty. Sheer lunacy.

  7. I'll be in the woke camp here of saying it sounds like good character development

Personally I never played Tomb Raider but, if old Nathan Drake decided that'd he'd return all of the artifacts he's collected for years to the sights he once pillaged, I'd play it

  8. As a young girl who grew up with tomb raider during the PlayStation era, I am bitterly disappointed. Laura was a badass who raided tombs looking for treasure while taking down bad guys I'll just stick with the original three games and the short-lived comic book from the early 2000s at least they stuck to the source.

Truth seeker sounds like a name for a wacky conspiracy theorist. When are the business people going to learn that following world culture equals broke culture trust me Eric they will not make a dime out of this money talks.

  9. as a veteran observer and strategists i can say i see what these baby ink studio types are doing and the public has not observed it enough to put 2 and 2 together, it’s just my theory but its obvious they are clearly trying to kill well known IPs so they can sell who knows what later down the line, we don’t want whatever it is they are selling.

  10. Tomb raider was the first video game I ever got as a kid and I LOVED getting to go on adventures all over the world with Lara. She made me feel like I could grow up and be a strong and brave woman like her. It was so cool as a little girl seeing a beautiful, strong, and brave woman doing stuff in a game that had only been boys before. I’m not letting PC culture take the fun and memories I had and still have with Tomb Raider.

  11. 2:36 it's ironic I'm watching this on April 15. The writer of that article has CLEARLY never heard of a thing called salvage rights.

In 1985, when Dr. Robert Ballard discovered the wreck of the Titanic, he immediately became known as the primary salvor of the wreck. If he had wanted to, he could have taken ANYTHING he wanted from that wreck, brought it to the surface, and sold it for whatever he could get.

The thing is these "Tomb Raiders" usually have better morals, or are financed by companies or museums interested on preserving the history of these cultures and people. So that sort of stuff doesn't happen as often.

People just need to stop being so sensitive, and companies need to stop ruining everything because a loudmouth minority who most likely doesn't even buy their product ANYWAY makes a stink.
