Every so often I return to this song which is one of my all-time favorite Shankar Jaikishan-Shailendra-Mohammed Rafi songs.
I have sung it since my early teens. Notwithstanding that I am not the lullaby type, this remains my go-to lullaby.
Shailendra’s idea of time as a mail carrier bearing a message of happiness is deeply moving. Just for the reference, the song is meant for orphans in the movie.
