Thursday of the Dead continues bringing cool and obscure horror films to the Tower Theatre in 2023.
The first is the freaky 80s zombie/gore classic, “Dr. Butcher MD”, which is coming to the Tower Theatre on Thursday, January 19th, 2023 at 7 PM!
It sparked riots on 42nd Street, spawned a generation of VHS gorehounds and forever set an insane standard for Italian mad doctor/zombie/cannibal carnage worldwide: DR. BUTCHER, M.D. is the only cannibal movie that can be recommended to anyone in good conscience because it contains NO ANIMAL VIOLENCE. Know what else it has? ZOMBIES! Also ascots! And more zombies who are also peeping toms! This movie is a plotless, no-holds-barred mess cobbled together by Italians for the sole benefit of making people like us smile.

A new restoration of the horror debut from Bob Clark (BLACK CHRISTMAS, A CHRISTMAS STORY)! A theater troupe led by a mean-spirited director (co-writer/makeup SFX artist Alan Ormsby) travels to a small island graveyard for criminals. As their séance raises the dead, the group takes refuge in an abandoned house. Do they stay put until daylight, or flee into the pitch-black night, where slaughter awaits?! One of the first post-NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD zombie nightmares, CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD THINGS is required viewing for horror-heads.
