  1. The ironic part is that it's not really just the company, it was one part of the team who contacted Sony with the idea and Sony then got them to do said idea. Which now they backtracked but that didn't stop them.

Their idea is that they wanted to ban players more effectively.

  2. sorry ludwig but youre wrong helldivers 2 is not one of the best games of the year. I dont understand the hype behind it. literally one of the most boring games i've ever played to date and I've watched paint dry. the only cool thing in the game is the weapons everything else is just bleh.

  3. Personally, I'm afraid that Sony may not be done. Their tweet only says that they're canceling this immediate release. They haven't committed to not revisiting it in the future, possibly in modified way.
While I do live in one of the dozen or so countries that could easily make a PSN account, I'm still going to refuse to do that because Sony has an awful record for their security.

I was thankfully able to refund helldivers during all this chaos, I'm still glad I was able to do that, and I will not repurchase it any time soon, not for as long as Sony looms over with undetermined plans for the future.

  4. For the conspiracy theorists in the room, I want to nip it in the bud. No it's probably not for selling data to advertisers, with all the data privacy regulations and lack of tangible benefit for doing so, also the fact that even if Helldivers is super popular it's still just a drop in the bucket compared to how many PSN accounts already exist and are used daily.

It's most likely the other possibility, where they want to increase PSN count since people playing from PC platforms are often not PSN account users, so they get to get a huge chunk of new PSN users.

Also what greed? Isn't the PSN account free? The steam players being unable to play is definitely bad, but greed?? I don't know what part of this is particularly greedy.

  6. You can't take away access or features from a game or in fact anywhere without major backlash. If they had enforced it from the start, they would have less players but all players would be linked with PSN, I think they definetly let it slide for a few months so that they could build a much larger playerbase / brand name.
