  1. Its the old classics like these that got me into making rpg maker horror games in the first place (though shying away from the whole menagerie of deaths trope they usually lean hard into). Loving the content, and looking forward to seeing more.

Dumb fun fact, every death you have in game is technically canon, the terms of Ellen’s contract literally prevents her from dying (key word HER) until she’s free of her illness so just gets brought back to life over and over again until she escapes the house, since technically the deal hasn’t been fulfilled until she’s free.

  5. I will mention if you hate the four room that much, then playing it in Extra mode is gonna be frustrating as that puzzle is changed so drastically, that you'll probably bang your head on the desk for it.

    If your curious to know why, it's because the room doesn't demand 4 sounds, but 4 pairs of eyes, each returned to their rightfully owner. Text in Extra mode is purposely damaged to be as vague as possible to make it harder, so you will have to remember the whole summary of the books of eye colors to figure out where to put the eyes as you find them. Also, not all the ladies are in the painting room, they're spread throughout that floor specifically with one of the eyes you have to returned being forced to complete last

  6. Also needed to mention that if you play the game without saving until the part of the corridor that shouldnt distract you, you are actually able to talk to the black cat! It says some pretty interesting stuff lore-wise!

  7. about the line where viola (ellen) says that the house won't be killing her anytime soon –

    i think what was supposed to be meant by that is that since she lived there for her entire life and therefore is intimately familiar with magic and the house's layout, attempting to exact revenge on her via her house and her magic is useless. incidentally, i don't know if this is just some headcanon i read somewhere or something i convinced myself or something that was in the manga, but i remember something along the lines of every single death trap inside the house is the vengeful soul of someone ellen killed, hence why the house seemingly goes along with ellen (viola)'s plan for revenge and so viciously too

  8. Imagine complaining about dying a lot, while playing A HORROR GAME. Dying a lot is literally one of the main aspects of all the best horror games, and horror games that don't involve dying are rarely ever scary. Also you barely mentioned one of my favorite aspects of this game, which is the extremely subtle things that happen in the shadows all throughout the game, which most players are likely to miss without repeated playthroughs. However I do appreciate that you're discussing one of the older versions, instead of the MV version. I prefer the older versions

  9. The whole “roses blocking the escape” thing doesn’t make any sense to me. Even if there was an absurdly large enchanted rose bush blocking her way, couldn’t she just walk across the trees to leave? I understand the roses are connected to the witch and have magic attached to them (to the point a machete broke when it was used on them) and I also understand the witch wanted to trap Viola inside the house. Maybe it’s just me, but I think a giant wall of cursed roses could’ve easily been avoided if Viola just walked around it.

  10. Bruh you missed the best part of the lore. Ellen was suffering a painful disease that left her bedridden. But just before she swapped with viola she ensured her own death by cutting off her legs stabbing out her eyes and burning her vocal cords so that viola in Ellen’s body would not be able to replicate the spell that swapped them and would die a painful horrendous death screaming silently in a bleeding eyeless corpse
