  1. 6:08 This rendition of what the Shadow in the Warp sounds like is fantastic. It's subtle enough that it could be anything, but once you know what it is there's no mistaking it. And it's not a pleasant sound. Knocked it out of the park!

  2. Makes me wonder, with no one being able to contact the hive mind, could the emperor, or magnus when he was human, I'd love if even demon magnus had some contact with the nids and he gets in

  3. It's stupid shit like Tigerius not getting his mind burnt out that irks me in lore. The Hive Mind is a Psyker beyond compare, the weight of the Hive Mind's attention should crush any human psyker that isn't the Big E

  4. Here’s a couple things you miss about the Shadow in the Warp. Great Video tho:

“Shadow in the Warp” related excerpts:

    A. The “Shadow in the Warp” effecting Necron technology, ”War in the Museum”:*

’Tyranids project a psychic energy, Trazyn. A shadow in the warp. Especially Hive Fleet Kronos. You artificials can’t feel it, but it disrupts more than psychic patterns. Technology, arcane devices, even languages can come under its effect. And what “remains of my organics tell me that the shadow has fallen on Solemnace.’

    B. The “Shadow in the Warp” protects hive-fleets, ”Tyranid 9th ed codex”:

‘The Ordo Xenos have pieced together records that show splinter fleets swallowed by warp rents, only to emerge from other immaterean phenomena in entirely different regions of the galaxy. Should most races' craft be plunged through the warp like this they would likely emerge badly damaged or mutated, if they emerged at all. The hive ships appear unharmed by their experience, however, surging from the roiling tides of warp space as hungry and as deadly as ever. Worse, more than one such tendril has burst forth directly into the midst of a settled system.’

  5. Here’s an interesting concept: What if the tyrranids reason for showing up in this galaxy is because they are not the apex lifeform in theirs and another race rules the top of the foodchain hence the need for them to go elsewhere and feed? And what if their own galaxy the nids are simply considered as prey or pests by these superior race? And what if this superior race suddenly shows up in this galaxy to help eradicate the tyrranid infestation?

  6. If the tyranid hive mind knows it’s losing an invasion, it can always send more armies immediately as needed, whereas the invaded cannot seek or receive reinforcements. How could they ever lose any conflict?

  7. Without shadow in the warp, Maybe Grand Father Nurgle could find to corrupt all Tyranid synapse.
However, it seems only Necrontyr have found a real solution to prevent both chaos and Tyranid spread around galaxy: Zone of silence aka Pariah Nexus.

  8. Since The Emperor consumes thousands of Psykers a day to stay alive, would that mean that if The Great Devourer ever made it to Terra that it would be consumed by The Emperor and thereby He would finally wake up, be healed and would no longer need to be attached to The Golden Throne? Just a thought.

  9. More than any other faction save perhaps Chaos itself, the Tyranids feel like the most existential threat to the entire Warhammer 40K setting. Even the Necrons feel like a manageable enemy in comparison.

  10. Genestealers could be easily countered by forced genetic identification, sort of like a police stop when they ask for your ID but instead they stab you with a device to check your genetic makeup.

  11. Be cool if tyranids had no ties to the galaxy whatsoever, that they are truly extra galactic. Fear of the unknown in the best kind.

Used to have this for old necrons, although i can say ive warmed to the revised lore on them as they have woken up a bit.

If they really wanted to spice it up, maybe have the hive mind finally commune with the imperium, perhaps a warning, that they aren't attacking but running from something else and devouring the races helps them fight whatever else is out there… one galaxy among billions.

Maybe the silent king could speak of it considering his time outside of the galactic rim.

  12. Why wouldn’t they understand small concepts? Don’t gene stealers make cults? They’d have to have some concept of the small things they just don’t care.

  13. Imagine being on the fringe of the galaxy, total peace, unknowing of the world outside your skies, then these thrice damned things start being vomited onto your world. Fuck.
