The Stealth Fighter That America Never Exported

This is the story of America’s most advanced fighter jet ever built. But why the F-22 Raptor had a gold canopy, and why the United States never sold it to any of its allies, is #NotWhatYouThink #NWYT

  1. The English Electric Lightning was one of the first aircraft to exceed the speed of sound in level flight without using after burning.
The F106 was capable of low supersonic speeds without afterburner but with a significant range penalty.

  2. "Since the 1980s Lockheed had already been experimenting with stealth in the F-117 Nighthawk platform." – Lockheed first began working on stealth as far back as the late 1950s. The SR-71 Blackbird, designed in the early 1960s, was an experiment in stealth.

  3. BAE Lightning. First to supercruise.
F22. "Advanced" Avionics. Already outdated and too expensive to update.
    F35. Is a joke.
Yak-35 predecessor to F35. Also another joke.
    X-31. 3 axis thrust vectoring. F-22 and F-35. 2 axis. Aim-9x was a result of the X-31 project.
F-22 golden canopy is a result of the F-16 golden coating. Learning from the past aren't we?

  4. The F-35 is no longer more advanced in any areas since they began the Raptor Upgrade program. Everything the block 4 lightening upgrades will receive is now being refitted on the Upgraded Raptors that Lockheed Martin has started to complete the first few F-22's already including expanded missile capability
