There needs to be a flat damage reduction against players by like 30% to 50%. It's kind of nuts.
I've been invading at SL 178 and I'm going to let my experience with it here.
Yes, a lot of people just spam WA and enchantments but none of these one shots me because of health and stamina levels, PVP in lower levels are shitty because of it; usually spammers are rocking faith/archane builds and the most spammed are dragon and lightning thingys, BUT, and thats a big BUT, the only massive unbalanced thing I played against was two or 3 people (that I remember) rolling with STR builds which killed in one swing and some others with rolling/running r1 with long af range – and that fire glitch thing, if you know u know.
Someone was saying that new players can easily win against veterans on PVP and I say: no they can't lmfao. Most of the enchantments being spammed are easy to dodge and if you put some pressure they always proceed to panic roll, just time your cast/rollcatch and you're gonna be fine. I'm with probably almost 150 matches and 90 wins + most losses are because people are usually going for the 3vs1 or 2vs1; and I didn't even like souls pvp until ER. Also, having played a lot more pvp now I don't get why people were crying about moonveil, it's easy af to dodge both of it's special.
It sure is annoying to get those lightning – the one which comes from the sky, not the throwable – (or dragon, or moonveil, or red lightning lance) spammers but I'm often matching with claw, whip, dagger, katana (etc) players either; and this diversity on the builds, being able to see multiple differente weapons (that I didn't even know existed) being used is GREAT. People are wanting it to be just another DarkSouls and I'm praying that FromSoftware leave it be.
Personally, I'm loving elden ring PVP and if you are a 3vs1/2vs1 andy just "feel free to go off and die in a ditch somewhere" you maidenless scum. 🙂
If shields are a problem why not using bleed builds? I don't have ER right now, so I don't know a lot of the pvp except g9 and others
The game needs an overhaul of balance on every weapons with unique special arts.
I just wish they could improve multiplayer overall, the way it works is very limited and archaic for the open world. Also the 4 player limit is very underwhelming. They should have increased instead to 7 players (host, 3 phantom, 3 invasions) to incentive war, gank city and duels
No thank you. I'm sick of every game nerfing everything into the ground until it isn't fun anymore, I'm quite happy with how insane builds can be in this game.
Ehh idk how much i agree with this. Take this for a grain of salt as this is my first game from this franchise. You say on one hand damage is to high and etc but then you say the counter to high damage is broken as well? Sounds like people just haven’t found the good balance. I get what your saying though fights should probably last a little longer but then you run the risk of invasions being even more one sided. If they were just trying to balance the game for duels i can see what you are saying but you have to account for pve and invasions. I as a new player enjoy the strategical fights where blocking, dodging and parrying are super important and if you mess up you pay the price. Thats part of the reason i laugh when people are like “moonveil is so op omg” like its one of the most telegraphed moves in the game (besides like op spells like azur comet, breathe attacks and the cannon spell which i dont see people complaining about those) and super easy to dodge. Sounds like they just need to get better at dodging 😂 Tbh the only problem ive been having in the pvp of this game is that you will go up against a 1v3 where people are using cheesy strategies to gang up on you or even worse i invade a world and its a 1v3 and one of the 3 is using the exploit then they are toxic and tbag you like they actually did something 😂. Idk how they are even having fun doing that.
IMO the problem is that all of those aspects seem "overtuned" because they were balanced with PvE in mind. You need very high stability, damage and poise to deal with some of this game's bosses, and I don't think they can tone those stats down to improve PvP without reworking all of the game's PvE. Or just having them interact in a different way during PvP, idk if that's possible.
i invaded two co opers fighting the tree sentinel- I was only sl 40 +3 and somehow they both had bloodhound step??? i just abandoned it bc how the fuck am I winning that with only three estus lmao
Ds3 online was so balanced it let others hack your pcs. Supa balanced
I believe all we need is a balance with equipment load, right now light load is completely useless, this is what I propose, reduce iframes from mid rolls and give the ridiculous iframes that bloodhound step has to light rolls, that way people actually have to make sacrifices in order to have movility and iframes, right now everyone can stack poise, give themselves some bloodhound step and be immortal, also that solves the damage issue since people will actually have to invest in endurance
A major problem is status effect meters moving up during a roll, I think that is an oversight.
the level / upgrade levels for invasions look crazy too, which I'm not sure is good or bad.
One minute you have a guy tickling you, the next you have someone taking half your bar with a rusty katana.
The one shot problem is especially bad since you often invade 3 people waiting at the spawn point.
Agree with everything except status effects. They are incredibly strong on the basis of being able to stun someone out of iframes. I actually love this mechanic since it serves as an anti-passivity tool, but I believe it should come at a cost. Currently, even on the non-one shot proc builds you can out-trade colossal weapons with a bleed infused fast weapon. Something I haven’t seen anyone talk about to balance this is armor: every other status resistance scales inversely with poise and physical abs, but robustness is highest on the heaviest armors. If we make it so that very low weight/poise armor can have very high robustness, it would serve to punish poise stacking and nerf status builds.
I’d say the real problem is when players watch YouTubers (That’s not at all bad for tips and stuff) They tell them that “oh you need to use this” or “ This is the meta because it’s really OP” YouTubers need to chill and just make guides and fun builds. Stop with the meta crap. Let players make there own decisions and let’s see how that makes a meta for once.
Connection is ass that's my biggest gripe but that's par for the course in fromsoft games. Besides that I think WA poise is probably way overtuned. Gotta disagree with Bstep its a necessary evil when some WAs can stunlock you to death if you don't dodge them.
Yoo question how does your weapon menu look different when i go to swap weapons it doesnt look like that for me
im level 175 doing pvp right now, and i seriously regret going this high level. shoulda stayed 150 or maybe even lower but now that i beat the game and wanna pvp man… its rough. the bleed builds are insane, that cross naginata spear with whatever build and buffs these people use literally procs bleed in one hit. super cancer as it staggers for a combo its literally one hit youre done. moonveil cancer and spell spam is also rampant. its very clear what weapons/armor/talismans/etc. are worth using right now are because there is some pretty bad balance right now. then again, From clearly wanted to over deliver on the open world and singe player experience, which they did, but the series always had multiplayer and pvp roots and this initial launch is definitely not its best
Outside pvp I reckon it's okay to be OP. You build you character and eventually hit the breakpoint. It'd be bad if you artificially prevent players from hitting that breakpoint for the sake of balance. As for one shotting in pvp I think it's somewhat subjective. It's like in CoD pvp there is the hardmode where people will get one-shotted or few-shotted. For now it's better let the meta sort itself out. If you don't like the OP combos then just play at a lower level meta.
Does anyone know what level and build g9 is running in these vids?
Where do you get that scythe weapon arts?
I always prefer ds1 pvp overall, backstabs were unfair but the other aspects were incredible, more slow, you couldnt roll and roll all the time like in ds3, you had to wait for a good move not just spamming
Do not agree love the 2shot meta
I put this comment on last video, so I will quote it on this video “Hey jeenine, I found out that if you use a poke attack on a great sword, you can true combo into a straight sword attack, also anything similar in speed (assumably). I want you to try and use a great sword with a another weapon quicker than the great sword and see if it’s a viable strategy.”
yeah i feel like i need to have op weapons like moonveil i keep getting ome shot by magic or madness or valkerie blade
I disagree on status it'll be meta when people start catching on, especially in duels.
It punishes reaction rolling lmao, you have to be a bit more predictive to avoid ghost hits even on low lat. Status should always beat no status in duels
Idk how to nerf it at all. Maybe the build up is too quick
Madness is the main status effect I want reworked. You shouldn’t be able to infinitely chain Madness lmfao
And the greatshield abuse. I’m testing countering them with the plague dagger and poison throwing knives.
Status effect a little overtuned?
I guess if you don't consider the stagger from it during rolls.
Buildup while rolling was in ds3 and was not too bad because it can proc during a roll and you take no damage.
It works the same way here with 1 major caveat. Most status conditions have a stagger when they proc.
This will stagger you out of rolls and creates a whole rabbit hole of possible combos. It's most noticeable on maddness, but its present and effective on the others.
One of many examples is hoarfrost stomp. Without the quicksteps or preventing your opponent from breathing, the initial buildup of the move is unavoidable as far as I can tell.
Even if you dodge, it will eventually proc and combo into the main damage which is 1500 -2000 at ~120 level when optimized.
Right now there are just mostly pve dudes and random scrubs, but a smart gank squad who runs buildup will render rolling useless as they can initiate a blender during your i frames.
I don’t mind the damage for PvE but yeah pvp needs work.
The host in the beginning looked like dark Kermit. Lmao
Bro, what are your recording settings? The quality of this vid is SUPER clean.
Heads up, you can get temporarily blocked from multiplayer if you disconnect too much during online play!
EVEN IF ITS JUST THE GAME CRASHING.
I got hit with a 12 hour multiplayer ban after my game crashed 5 times in an hour.
Careful out there guys
I actually like the idea of being able to bleedout in one combo, but I think it should be better tuned with build downsides or overall damage inflicted
Use a spear it will guard break shields 🤦♂️
The game is amazing but pvp is not realy fun the whole switching weapons mid fight is just so unplesant if that should have ben a feature there should have ben like a key bind and or hotkeys to switch and i get that invaders have it hard but this aint it they should have the same amount of flasks as normal or if the pvp stays this way there should be an arena where the lodaut you go in with is locked so no switching. Main reason i just dont evan bother with pvp all the tryhards switching shit mid fight….fml
I think that the direction check for backstabs should be removed and colossal weapons should have a unique, stronger backstab grab. Maybe make the grab box bigger, faster, or linger for longer. Any one of these would be a nice way to make great hammers better. Also I respectfully disagree with poise being too good. It takes 30 seconds to reset and you can drain someone's poise with a phantom hit or ignore it with status. Maybe it's my ds1 "poise should reset every four seconds" brain but I really can't see anything broken about this game's poise. It makes small weapons harder to use and forces you to play the numbers game with a timer in your head. It's just more depth.
I don't agree that fundamentally most weapons are usabe, their are clear weapon teirs and with passive poise, sheilds are broken. Passive poise has forever rotted the foundation
What's crazy about the bloodhound step is that it's not only a barrier for entry into PVP, but its also almost necessary in some PvE encounters. Nearly everyone I've seen that's beaten melania has said the same thing: Use bloodhound step.
That art is so good its literally changing the boss-fight meta. The only alternative ive seen mentioned is hoarfrost stomp + mimic ash. But the only way to reliably get out of one of her moves is thru BHS. This probably says more about the boss design than the art though
Honestly I’m just tired of getting summoned into 3 man magic spam ganks the magic does so much damage it gets annoying
Imagine comparing dark souls in its last stages to to elden ring not even 30 days in wtf?
weapons do so much damage its insane
I’m really confused about the staggers. I heard it said that they fixed the infinite stun, but I have died multiple times after being hit repeatedly and being, as far as I could tell, incapable of getting out. Maybe this has to do with what some are describing as input delay, or maybe I just suck. But either way the conditions are confusing. As for input lag, I am still very interested in hearing people’s opinions on whether or not it exists and why or why not.
And yeah, at least at low levels bleed seems insane to me. It can happen very fast and will likely kill you outright.
Hoping I get used to the magic because it seems like an easy way for bad players to get an arguably oversized boost. And since they’re always in groups, it gets overwhelming quickly.
Fun fact Bloodhound step is faster than running. I hope they nerf that bullshit hard. Also the brainless shield pokes that have 360° tracking
In all honesty I dont think damage is entirely overtuned; somewhat sure but health being under tuned is the main issue. Just look at PvE later game. Everything can essentially one shot you if you aren’t careful. That has never been a thing in other games save for like… Ng plus or sl 1 runs.
hey, bro. think you can do an item tier list? i'd like to know your thoughts on items and ashes of war is situations.
